Were Bone Really Found on Northern Ambergris?
Police say that a scattering of bones was found on northern Ambergris Caye. But it remains unclear if they are human bones or not. Police say samples need to be sent for testing to confirm.
Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino - CIB
"Well, the only information that I have at this point is that somewhere 13 miles north of the coast of San Pedro. Police discovered what appears to be bones, those have been retained and they will be forwarded for testing."
"Has it been confirmed if those bones are human remains?"
Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino
"We do not know if they are humans or of animal remains so they have been sent for testing. From the information that I have is that they were not found in shallow graves, they were found in a bushy area on the top of the surface of the earth."
No skull was found. After the police press briefing, Deputy Compol Chester Williams contradicted Ferrufino and told the media via text that according to the San Pedro OC there is no such information about bones being found.
Contrary to the official police report, a reliable anonymous source told The San Pedro Sun that the bones were found in what appeared to be shallow graves. According to the source, clothing could be seen in the suspected graves, and there were several human bones as well. These included pieces of human skull, pelvis and several femur bones. The source alleges that the remains belong to three unidentified persons.
