The Caribbean Sea
A sharp upper-level trough is over the northwest Caribbean, just
east of the Yucatan Penninsula and north of Honduras. A surface
trough is analyzed in this area, extending along 84W from 15N-22N.
Scattered showers are noted from 16N-19N between 80W-86W. Isolated
showers are noted across the remainder of the basin, moving quickly
with the trades. Fresh trades continue across most of the eastern
and central Caribbean, with strong trades near the coast of
Colombia.
High pressure centered over the central Atlantic will maintain
fresh to strong winds over the south central Caribbean through
mid week, diminishing slightly by the end of the week as the
high weakens. The highest winds are expected near the coast of
Colombia at night.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a flat calm sea around our barrier reef with a breeze from the Northeast at 5 mph. The expected high temperature for today is in the low 80's.

From Belmopan...
The Sunrise is Still getting later in the morning, we have not yet passed the point where sunrise gets earlier, so the early morning satellite picture is not good or available until after 8:15 or so, although sunset has been getting later since 23 November. The shortest day was 21 December.
There is a lot of chunky Caribbean clouds out in the sea, causing many small rain showers, a few in northern parts of Belize. There is high level winds from the NNE causing a lot of cloud and rain way out near Honduras. There is still some cool air around and some trying to move in from central Guatamala.
Looks as if today will initially be rather different, for north and west Belize, heavy cloud, fog and some rain, southern Belize has sunshine and no rain, but there could be some isolated rain showers moving in from the Caribbean later today.
Temperatures in Belmopan :
( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler )
Last night min. 21°C 69°F Yesterday max. 27°C 81°F Yesterday Rain 9.1 mm ( 0.37" )

The Cloud and rain picture.
Very complex weather, now sun, or some sun in the north and west, and cloud and rain in the south of Belize.
There is clashing between the easterly Caribbean winds and some remnants of the cool are along a line just out at sea, and another high level clashing line in the Caribbean with winds coming down from the north, But the clashing line is working its way up northwards.

Tomorrows WEATHER for Wed 09 Jan 2019 Looks as if the ENE Caribbean winds are taking over again, so resulting in many rain showers. As it takes over more completely, so the rain will ease off. Looks like tonight will be more steady, more of a normal Caribbean easterly winds, with some rain showers around, but probably reducing through the day and more sunshine as tomorrow Wed 09 Jan progresses.
