The Caribbean Sea

Typical scattered trade winds showers are noted across the basin. Strong high pressure north of the area is inducing widespread fresh to strong trade winds over most of the Caribbean. Expect for these winds to prevail through Thu, with gale-force winds pulsing overnight off of the Colombia's coast. See the section above for more information about the Gale Warning currently in effect. Expect seas well over 8 feet for large portions of the Caribbean, highest from 10N-16N between 74W-80W, where 10-15 ft seas are expected. Farther east, large NW swell will move into Atlantic waters off the Leeward Islands by tonight. Winds and seas will diminish late in the week as the high pressure shifts east ahead of another cold front. This front is expected to move into the northwest Caribbean by late Thu, and will stall and dissipate from central Cuba to central Honduras by late Fri.

On Ambergris Caye this morning the wind is howling from the East-SE and the sea is rough. It's one of those mornings I get in my boat and got to work to tell tourist it's unsafe to be in a boat today. :-) The expected high temperature for this sunny day is in the mid 80's.

From Belmopan...

The Caribbean winds have really taken over and coming in from the ESE, presently with little cloud, a bit thicker across parts of central Belize and against the southern mountains. The fog in western Cayo has still not cleared, just lifted above the ground, but should be clearing soon, but as it lifts, so will the Caribbean clouds develop more.

Looks like today will be sunny, with white clouds developing this morning, no rain expected, no rain on the radar.

Temperatures in Belmopan :
( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 19°C 67°F Yesterday max. 23°C 74°F Yesterday Rain 0.0 mm ( 0.00" )

Tomorrows WEATHER for - Thu 24 Jan 2019

The high level stream over the Gulf is being pushed further down by another cool air attempt, presently only starting to effect south west Mexico near the Pacific. The easterly Caribbean winds over Belize, are being bent or turned up northwards over north Yucatan. So there are changes happening, if that high level cloud gets pushed over Belize over night, then we will have cloudy weather and possibly a little rain.

Not clear how that cloud will pan out over night, probably some cloud in the morning, and fog.
