Further to the notice published in the San Pedro Sun on February 8", 2019 the Hol Chan Marine Reserve (HCMR) would like to inform our valued stakeholder and the public that we will be strengthening our enforcement in all zones within the Reserve. Please note the following:

I. Any Tour Operator/Vessel that commit the following infraction(s) against the Hol Chan
Marine Reserve Regulations and Fisheries Legislations will not be allowed to enter the
reserve:
1. Vessel Not Displaying Hol Chan Marine Reserve Registration Sticker
2. Vessels exceeding 45ft in length
3. Vessel Carrying more than 30 pax total (including all passengers and crew on
board)
4. Personnel not having the appropriate license to execute activity within the
reserve
a. Valid Tour Guide License
b. Valid Tour Operator License (from the Belize Tourism Board)
c. Valid Dive Master or Instructor License (for Scuba Diving Tours)
d. Valid Captain License to drive vessel
5. Not adhering to the Guide to Guest Ratios
a. S Snorkelers maximum to 1 Licensed Tour Guide
b. S Divers maximum to 1 Licensed Tour Guide

II. Tour Guides who commit offences against the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Fisheries
Legislations will be suspended and not allowed to conduct tours within the reserve for
the suspension period. The details of all infraction will be forwarded to the Belize
Tourism Board's Tour Guide Licensing Committee.

III. Fishers or other persons who commit offences against the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and
Fisheries Legislations shall be subject to the fines, penalties and legal action prescribed by these Laws.

The Hol Chan Marine Reserve kindly asks that all our visitors, stakeholders and the general
public cooperate with us in order to facilitate a smooth process for accessing the reserve and to ensure the sustainable use and safeguarding of our irreplaceable marine assets.
