Organizers of the 1st ever Ambergris Caye Half Marathon & 10K Fun Run/Walk scheduled for April 6th, 2019 are now accepting runner registrations. This sporting event seeks to garner support from international and local runners, in an effort to raise money for educational scholarship opportunities for the islands’ underprivileged youths and to provide medical and emergency relief to needy families.

The Half Marathon will kick off at 5:15am followed by the 10k walk/run at 6am from the entrance of Banyan Bay Suites on Seagrape Drive, on the abovementioned date. The cost is $50bze per runner and deadline for registration is Wednesday April 3rd, 2019. There will be a briefing the night before the race (Friday, April 5th) to confirm your participation and to receive your tote bag with running supplies, including your tag/race number and official t-shirt.

Runners can take part in twenty-one or ten kilometer distances, with several age range categories including; under 20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and over 60. The Half/Half Marathon (10K) will begin at Seagrape Drive at 5am while the Half Marathon (21K) will take off at 6am. Participants of the 10K run will turn back near Crocs Sunset Bar, with several chances of snatching station prizes along the route. Participants in the Half Marathon will take runners through a scenic route and turn back at the cut-off to Secret Beach, North of Ambergris Caye. Both races will end at its starting point, in front of Alaia’s Model Home on Seagrape Drive.

All finishers will receive a commemorative participation trophy, medals and allotted prizes along the route by participating resorts and hotels. Registration and briefing will be held on April 5th at Banyan Bay Suites’ conference Center. “We are thrilled to partner with our corporate sponsor, the Belize Bank and present this opportunity for fans all over the globe to participate in this first ever Charity 10K and 21k Fun Run,” said Andrew Ashcroft, Managing Principal of Alaia Belize. “Being able to join hands as one for a great cause to secure funding for the islands disenfranchised families and encouraging the active participation of our community is our ultimate goal.”
