I've read quite a bit about the nurse sharks and sting rays and feel 100% comfortable snorkeling with them. Two things that I haven't read much about are the barracuda and crocs. (No I don't plan to swim with the crocs...lol) What special precautions if any should we be aware of concerning these 2 critters?

When I was snorkeling at Shark Ray Alley and other places, we did see Baracuda - at the bottom. Never bothered us but we kept a look out anyway. Actually, later that day in Caye Caulker, I had baracuda for lunch which was very good!

Barracudas get a bad rap same as sharks Hollywood and the media exagerate the dangers of these creatures when in fact they are not dangerous when you are educated and use common sense.

Barracudas are naturally curious and can be found following you throught your dive or snorkel and this can be a little unnearving especially when you see there teeth which are quite impressive.

You will not find a documented case where a barracuda attacked anything for no reason.

Its usually a spearfisherman who has shot it and during the retrieval it bites or when a fisherman pulls in his catch and is removing the hook etc there is a common sense suggestion however to elimiate any danger

1.) remove all jewelry especialy silver and diamonds which glint in the sunlight and can be mistaken for the barracudas prey which is smaller fishes.

2.) if you are spearfishing remove your catch from the water immediately

Croc are mainly located in the lagoons and are not really an issue although the development of the island is slowly pushing them closer and closer to humans, since they are territorial unless they are moved a long way from there original home thay will simply return within a few days to its old area.

Have fun and dont worry you will have a great time
