San Pedro Tiger Sharks suffer another game loss

San Pedro Tiger Shark's second home game was a crushing blow as they fell to the Verdes 87-62 on Sunday, March 17th. This loss sees the island team sliding down the tournament ladder from first to fifth place. The island team will need to win all their upcoming games in order to make it to the 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) playoffs.

The upcoming NEBL matches will test each team to play harder as they fight for a spot in the tournament's playoffs later in the competition. Friday, March 22nd is the game between Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes and the San Pedro Tiger Sharks at the Belize City Civic Center.

San Pedro wins, 80-75


Jihad Wright and San Pedro Tiger Sharks get crucial win against Hurricanes

San Pedro Tiger Sharks entered the Civic Center to face off the defending champions, Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes on Friday night, with their backs against the wall and in desperate need of a win. The Tiger Sharks jumped out to an early 23-18 lead at the end of the first quarter, which they were able to extend to 42-35 at the half. They sustained a 61-54 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Hurricanes gave a run to cut the lead to 3 points with a few minutes remaining in the game. However, Jihad Wright and big man, Martevuius Adams proved to be too much, as San Pedro Tiger Sharks grabbed a much needed 80-75 win. Jihad Wright finished the game with 32 pt 8 rebs 4 stls, while Martevuius Adams tallied 16 pts 7 rebs. Devin Daly came off the bench to lead the Hurricanes with 20 pts, while Glency Lopez tallied 16 pts 6 rebs 4 assts 4 stls, and Shanon Fowler knotted a double-double with 13 pts 10 rebs. With the win, San Pedro Tiger Sharks remain in the playoff hunt, while Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes is nursing a 1-game lead over the Tiger Sharks and Defenders, as they travel out west to take on Verdes on Saturday night.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks edges Belize City Defenders

San Pedro Tiger Sharks travelled to the city to take on Belize City Defenders at the Civic Center on Friday night in a very crucial game, as both teams shared a 4-4 record and were tied for the 4th seed going into the playoffs. The home squad was able to nurse a 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, after which the score was tied at 39 at the half. At the end of the third quarter, the visiting team had a 60-57 lead, which they were able to hold on to in order to grab the 79-76 win. Martevuius Adams had the game high with 27 pts and 13 rebs, while Francis Arana netted 15 pts to go with 5 rebs and 5 dimes. Gene Myett tallied 10 pts and 6 rebs in the win, while Kurt Burgess grabbed 12 rebs. Belize City Defenders was led by Nigel Jones, who finished with a double-double, scoring 23 pts and grabbing 10 rebs. Mykiel Jones tallied 13 pts and 4 dishes, while Darwin Leslie and Farron Louriano netted 10 pts, apiece.

Two weeks away from NEBL playoffs, San Pedro Tiger Sharks lands another win

With only two weeks remaining in the 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) regular season, a series of crucial games took place over the weekend as teams try to secure their spot in the playoffs. The San Pedro Tiger Sharks netted an important win and climbed the ladder to third place in the NEBL rankings after crushing Belmopan Bandits 104-68 at the Angel Nu�ez Auditorium on Saturday, April 6th. The island team needs to win their upcoming game to secure a playoff berth in the tournament.

As the playoffs approach, upcoming games will be crucial for teams hoping to secure a spot in the finals. The teams remaining in the league so far are The San Pedro Tiger Sharks, Verdes, Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes, Dangriga Dream Ballers, and Belize City Defenders. First teams secure their spots for upcoming 2019 NEBL playoffs

The 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) tournament has only two weeks remaining of regular games in the current season, before heading to the playoffs. After the most recent games, Team Verdes and Dangriga Dream Ballers have clinched home-court advantage as the games #1 seed and #2 seed respectively, in the first round of the three-game semi-finals series of the approaching playoffs. The results of the two remaining weeks of regular games will determine who will clinch the #3 and #4 seeds, and that is a battle between the San Pedro Tiger Sharks and Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes. The playoffs have been scheduled to start on Friday, April 26th.

The upcoming games will be crucial, and if San Pedro Tiger Sharks want to clinch the #3 seed for the playoffs, they must win their upcoming game. Currently, the island team is in third place in the NEBL standings with a total of 18 points. Thursday, April 18th- San Pedro Tiger Sharks vs. Verdes at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town.
The game begins at 8:30PM.

Tiger Sharks win big, Tiger Sharks 85, Verdes 62, SHC Auditorium, San Ignacio

NEBL heads into playoffs

The 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) playoffs start on Friday, April 26th, with a best-of-three, semi-final series. Despite a slow start, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks finished with a five-game winning streak, climbing to third place in the NEBL rankings, behind second-place Dangriga Dream Ballers and top team Verdes. In fourth place is Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes.

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks travelled to San Ignacio Town in the Cayo District to face the current leading NEBL team, Verdes. The home team fought hard for a lead, heading to halftime with a tight 40-39 lead. The second half of the match saw the Tiger Sharks make an outstanding comeback, closing the third quarter leading 66-51. In the final quarter, Verdes fought hard to overcome its visitors, but when the time ran out, San Pedro Tiger Sharks claimed an 84-63 win.

The first two games of the semi-finals will both take place on Friday, April 26th on the mainland. The San Pedro Tiger Sharks will travel to Dangriga Town, Stann Creek District to face the Dangriga Dream Ballers, while Verdes will be hosting the Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes in San Ignacio Town. Both games will start at 9PM. The return games will take place on Friday May 3rd and Saturday May 4th in Belize City and San Pedro Town respectively. If a third game is necessary, based on the results of these games, they will take place on Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th between the same teams, but this time on the mainland.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks are just one game away from the 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) Tournament's finals, after defeating Dangriga Dream Ballers on Friday, April 26th. As the playoffs began over the weekend, the island team was able to strike first in the best-of-three semi-final games. On Saturday, May 4th, they will have the opportunity to seal their ticket to the 2019 NEBL's championship as they face Dangriga Dream Ballers for the second time in a home game that will take place inside the Civic Centre in Belize City.

The teams that advanced to the finals will then compete in a best-of-five series. The team with the most wins will become the 2019 NEBL Champion.

Game 3 for everyone as NEBL top teams battle for a spot in the finals

The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) playoffs have extended to a third game after the top four teams are tied in their best-of-three semi-final series. The semi-finals have the San Pedro Tiger Sharks facing Dangriga Dream Ballers while Verdes faces Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes. Having won the first game of the three-part series, Hurricanes and San Pedro Tiger Sharks had the advantage. On Friday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 4th (respectively), both teams failed to sweep the series, and thus the two teams advancing to the tournament's finals will be decided this weekend.

Game three will start at 9PM on Friday, May 10th between Verdes and Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. Meanwhile, the San Pedro Tiger Sharks will travel to Dangriga Town, Stann Creek District to face the Dangriga Dream Ballers at 8:30PM.

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks secure a spot in the 2019 NEBL finals

The San Pedro Tiger Sharks are seeking their third championship title, after netting their spot in the 2019 National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) finals on Saturday, May 11th. The two- time NEBL champions defeated the Dangriga Dream Ballers by a margin of four points at the Russel Chiste Garcia Auditorium. The island team will now be facing the defending champions Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes, who also advanced to the finals after blowing away Team Verdes.

The finals will now be between San Pedro Tiger Sharks and Mirage/Smart Belize Hurricanes in a best-of-five final series. Each of these teams have won two NEBL championships. Tiger Sharks won it in 2014 and 2015. While Hurricanes became NEBL champions in 2016 and 2018.
