Belize Medical Associates San Pedro Clinic to open on Jun 17th, take a look inside!
BMA Medical Chief Dr. Victor Rosado shared with The San Pedro Sun that the developers of Grand Caribe approached them with the idea of installing a clinic here on the island. “We liked the concept, and then the building was designed perfectly for a clinic. We decided that it would be a great thing to do,” he said. BMA also believes that by having specialists available on the island will help the patient by saving them time from traveling to the mainland; and thus, saving time away from work. Their main goal is to help augment the services that are already provided at local facilities. Dr. Rosado added, “Our pharmacy at the clinic will consist of three pharmacists, who will be able to assist island residents/visitors with more efficient information about their medication.” Dr. Sersland invites all island residents and visitors to visit them at the new clinic and check out all the services they have to offer to the community.
X-rays will be digital, and experienced radiologists will make interpretations in Belize City. If in case of emergencies where patients need to be transported to Belize City for further hospitalization or medical care, BMA has a contract with Astrum Helicopters and can also make other arrangements for patients to be flown out.

Belize Medical Associates San Pedro Clinic is officially inaugurated
The Belize Medical Associates San Pedro Clinic was officially inaugurated over the weekend despite the clinic providing services since June 17. The launch happened on Saturday afternoon at the clinic’s location on Grand Caribe premises, just north of the island. According to Dr. Marcello Coyi, the Belize Medical Associates has been offering full medical services to the general public including consultations, laboratory tests, pharmacy, x-rays and ultrasounds and Coyi added that in the coming years they will be expanding their services even further.
Dr. Renae Sersland is the full-time practitioner at the BMA San Pedro clinic, and they are specialist doctors available on weekly/biweekly rotations. Weekly doctors will include Paediatricians: Dr. Victor Rosado and Dr. Mirtha Ochoa; Gynaecologist/Obstetrician: Dr. Marcelo Coyi and Dr. Anna Coen; Internist: Dr. Filberto Cawich and Dr. Mark Musa, and Radiologist Dr. Guevarra
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially inaugurate the Belize Medical Associates (BMA) San Pedro Clinic located at the Grand Caribe premises, north of Ambergris Caye on Saturday, September 7th. Present at the ceremony was Grand Caribe Manager Sean Feinstein, Belize Medical Associates Board Chairman Dr. Marcelo Coyi, Person in Charge of BMA San Pedro Clinic Dr. Renae Sersland, Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Rickilee Response & Rescue President (Triple R) Billy Leslie, Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II Administrator Eric Najarro, councilors Flora Ancona and Ruben Gonzalez, BMA doctors and other guests.
Grand Caribe’s Feinstein shared with The San Pedro Sun that this fully equipped clinic needed on the island. “All combined together we have about 360 employees, and with the resort growing and more people residing here, that created a need for a proper medical care facility. Everyone who stays/resides at Grand Caribe loved everything we had to offer, however, the number one question/concern was what if I get ill?, what if I broke a leg, I have a condition or get injured, and there is not a proper clinic/hospital to deal with it?. Honestly, we didn’t have an answer for them, and because of not having proper medical services available, many people didn’t want to come to the resort or the island. We knew we had to build it, so, if I built it, how do I run it? I didn’t know anything about medical services at that time. I was friends with some of the doctors of BMA, so I reached out to them if they would be interested in having a medical facility here in San Pedro Town. They said yes, so I bought everything needed and filled it with the best equipment available,” said Feinstein. He further highlighted that you could get the same services offered at their main hospital in Belize City here at their clinic in San Pedro Town. “They committed the personnel to run it, but I built it and installed all the equipment needed. The total costs of the facility are around six million dollars and the amount put for the hospital in terms of the equipment, beds/ furniture’s and other stuff is around three million dollars,” said Feinstein.

From A – Z at the New Belize Medical Associates
A new style of medical care has come to Ambergris Caye. We now have the option to get state of the art diagnostic testing and treatment. Belize Medical Associates has been providing services since June 17th and was recently inaugurated September 7th. There is also a salon on the premises so you can leave looking great in addition to getting your health in order. The new facility offers: consultations, lab tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, and will be expanding its services in a timely manner. There is also a well-stocked pharmacy onsite. If they do not have what you need, they can order it from their Belize City location.
The full-time doctor in charge is well-known and loved Dr. Renae Reasa (Sersland). BMA will also have weekly rotating featured specialists. This will save patients time and money as the doctors are doing the flying. All you have to do is hop on your cart and drive to your appointment at the BMA facility located in Caribeville, north of the bridge. If you know what you are looking for medically, you will be able to go directly to the specialist instead of being referred by a doctor first. There is also no referral necessary for lab tests, x-rays or ultrasounds.
