The Caribbean Sea

Tail end of a weakening stationary front is over northwestern Cuba producing scattered showers near the coast and western portion of the island. Scattered showers are in the south-central Caribbean near the coast of Panama and adjacent waters. Mostly fair weather prevails elsewhere as mid-level ridging covers the western and central Caribbean south of 19N. Latest scatterometer depicts moderate trades are over most of the basin except south of 14N, where fresh trades are noted.

The winds will pulse to fresh to strong in the S central Caribbean, expanding in coverage to the entire central Caribbean and offshore of Honduras, and in the lee of Cuba by early next week, as high pressure N of the area builds southward. Elsewhere, gentle to moderate winds will prevail, increasing early next week.

Potential remains for an enhancement of showers and thunderstorms over Hispaniola, with a slight risk of isolated flooding by late Sunday into Tuesday.

The easterly Caribbean winds have taken over control of the area again, very little smoke in the sky at present. White Caribbean clouds developing now, just a trace of high level from the NW The smoke is still over Honduras and way out into the Pacific, but this morning, Belize is fairly clear of smoke.

Looks like today will be mainly sunny, with white clouds building and reducing this afternoon, no rain expected.

There is a small chance that the high level winds could clash with some low level stuff, if they swell up later this afternoon.

Tomorrows WEATHER for - Mon 29 Apr 2019

There is quite a bit of cloud around, particularly out in the Caribbean. There is now some clashing of high level winds in the north Yucatan, as the high level cloud continues from the WNW. It is bringing cloud in towards Belize right now. Just a few shower outbreaks in the Yucatan and a few other places, not much. Just possible we might get a little rain over night.
