Hi All,

It's been a number of years since we have visited Belize and are returning next month (July) with our 2 teenagers this time. As we start our preliminary planning I had a few questions for the group...

- Does anyone find airfare to be cheaper flying mid-week rather than on the weekends? (We are coming from Houston)
- We have stayed on AC in the past but have heard it's much more developed than it was 10 years ago...so we are thinking of staying on CC this time...what impact would that have on our trip financially? Could we expect less expensive lodging but an increase in the cost of transportation? Meaning, we will want to do lots of activities...is it more expensive to get back and forth to the mainland for cave tubing, zip lining, etc?
- We aren't the kind of folks who have to stay in "high end" hotels, but this IS a vacation :0) ...what is the nicest place to stay on CC? Would it be cheaper to say rent a house for the 4 of us?
- If we decided to stay on AC instead...is the north end where we should look for lodging? The last time we were there they were just beginning to build there.

Thanks for helping us plan for a great family trip!

You can have an affordable vacation on either island. I don't know the "best" choice on CC...... . For a family of four you could check on the following villas/homes north of the bridge on AC:
Caye Villas (2 & 3 bedroom homes), Los Encantos (3+4 bedroom homes) - both of these places are beautiful, comfortable, have good summer prices, pools and easy access to activities. Also interesting - the Tree House (2 bedrooms, 1 bath) - a lovely space!

Thanks for all of that valuable info Diane...we have decided to stay on AC and are coming July 20th - 27th. We'll take a look at all of the places you've suggested.

Thanks again,
Chris

Also...can anyone comment on the reliability and speed of Wifi on AC...or specifically the north end? Unfortunately this will be a semi working vacation for me cry

Thanks!

Wi-fi is very good up north. You'll be fine, but try not to work too much. Also - forgot to mention"Watercolors" - a stand-alone two bedroom, two bath home on the beach with dipping pool. also north, just a bit past Caye Villas, in the Mata Grande area.

If you have not booked yet. Look at the 2 bedroom unit at Cocotal. Nice unit and very reasonable with low season rates. Nice little resort about 2.5 north, pool, great staff and owner.
