It's been another busy few days for the C.C.V.C. Firstly, there was an unfortunate accident with two of our staff while fumigating. An investigation is still being conducted to know what really was the cause of the accident. The employees got to the health center in time and were immediately attended to by the doctor and the nurse who did an amazing job. Nurse Cutkelvin and doctor, we thank you for your amazing efforts. Both employees were sent to Belize for precautionary measures and have been at home since yesterday resting. We wish you both a speedy recovery.

Vector Control is out here conducting training of our entire staff since Tuesday. They are being trained to properly handle equipments and the importance of safety measures. Vector Control left a manual fogger and next week we will commence home fumigation. All efforts are to contain and prevent cases of dengue since there is an outbreak in the region. We sincerely thank Ministry of Health, Mr. Levy and Mr. Matus for training our staff.

The chairlady and secretary met with the B.D.F. who will embark on a curriculum for sea worthiness skills at Ocean Academy. This program will compliment Ocean Academy as well as our community. Our hope is that a small base can be set up in the future to complement the police department and facilitate the community with assistance when needed. A line of communication remains open with the B.D.F. We sincerely thank them for their visit.

Several concerns have been sent in to the C.CV.C. from North Caye Caulker. Today a couple councilors went over to visit the area and better understand the needs and concerns of the residents. As a team, we will continue to work diligently with and for our community.

We have finally gotten to some ground work in our community. This week the staff took to cleaning and trimming of overgrown trees in different areas of the community. The Children's Park was also given a through cleaning and is looking well kept. The Council is in the implementing phase of schedules for the upkeep of the children's park and the cemeteries. C.C.V.C. take the opportunity to ask the community to be considerate of our staff out on a hot day and offer them a drink to cool off. Your gesture would go a long way for our guys.

Today the chairlady, the vice chairman, the administrator and the chairperson of the Caye Caulker Liquor License Board, Mr. Ian Forte attended a meeting in Belmopan held by the Ministry of Local Government and the Commissioner of Police. The meeting was aimed at strengthening the inter agency collaboration with a view to address matters related to public health, citizen safety and security and in support of Belize's Children's Agenda and citizen security strategy. The ministry will futher brief us on upcoming changes.

We take the opportunity to ask all liquor license holders to please comply with the necessary requirements set forth for your licenses, and we ask that you consider your neighborhood and play your music at a decent level.(where applicable)

Highlight of the week: Our Head Foreman Jason "Tigga" Sutherland is back at work after two weeks sick leave. We are glad to have you back!

Downfall of the week: The white truck is currently down and in the garage limiting the work force's performance. If you would like to lend us your truck, please feel free to let us know as upkeep of the island continues.

It has been another busy week for the C.C.V.C. Firstly, we would like to sincerely express gratitude to Friends of Caye Caulker for sending out their equipment to work on our streets. We take the opportunity to sincerely thank Mr. Joshua and Mrs. Cassia Marin owners of Sassy Barge for ferrying the equipment free of charge to Caye Caulker. Without your contribution, this project would not be possible. We would also like to make special mention of Councilor Delcid for lending the Council his tank and use of his golf cart to wet the streets.

The C.C.V.C. street staff have nicely trim most streets where the grass was over grown. The private school, La Isla Carinosa Academy have acquired their playground set, the Caye Caulker Traffic Department have set up a school zone in this area to avoid any of the children being hurt. We ask drivers to please be cautious on approaching both schools as our children return to school. We continue to strive to work together for the progress of our community.

Jafar, one of our street maintenance worker celebrated his birthday. Join us in wishing him happy birthday.

The palapa garden craft market project is well under way and the completion of the project should be November 2019. The vector control personnel were on the island fumigating, if you would like to have your yard fumigated please call 226 0043 and ask to put down for the next fumigation session.

This week the Caye Caulker Village Council put out some additional signs.We ask the community to please adhere to the signs. We ask specifically for the taxis to stop cluttering the baggage pick up area of the water taxi, if you can't comply out traffic officer will be force to fine you. A few stop signs were also put out. Our head foreman,Tigga, is busy touching up the streets before this weekends parade. Josanie Joseph and Steven Arnold were awarded employees of the month for their outstanding performances. Fumigation of homes was also carried out for the Bahia Area.

Today was a very successful service day for the Caye Caulker Village Council. The new cemetery was nicely cleaned by the councilors, the task force, the Stingrayz and the volunteers that showed up. Thank you for coming out to assist us. The Caulker Caulker Village Council was successful in getting the fogger on the north side to fumigate. We thank our staff and J.C. Constructions for making this endeavor successful. Working together for the community!

It's been an extremely busy and sad two week for the entire island of Caye Caulker. Independence Eve, our councilors were busy preparing for the Independence Eve block party and we were all enjoying the fireworks when we were alerted of a fire on Avenida Langosta. When we got closer, everyone was devastated to find out it was Nando's golf cart rental and his father's home and apartment complex.

The fire engine arrive on the scene and it experienced some mechanical difficulties. Due to this unfortunate circumstance, one of the fireman left to go get the smaller Kia truck and brought it on scene. By this time the residences had form several bucket brigades and water was being retrieved from several of the neighborhoods wells and vats. We must express gratitude for the quick response from residence in assisting in extinguishing the fire. 17 people were left home less, and we regret to confirm we lost an island resident in this fire. The CDRTs and immediately sprang into work mode and immediately open up an emergency center to collect information and accept donations for the fire victims. These CDRTs even serve these victims several hot meals, we must commend the Caye Caulker CDRTs. Early the next morning NEMO send over supplies for the victims and by mid morning they had received some assistance.

Later in the day, the CCVC made a decision to still proceed with the Independence Day events as we had stock our bar, booked D.J.s and several people had made preparations for their group or float to participate in the parade on that said day.

After the September festivities, several meetings were held with NEMO, Police, B.E.L and fire personnel. The aim from all involved is for us to be better prepared in the event of a fire.

Donation continue to trickle in some of the donors were B.E.L, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Assembly of God Church, and several other donors. Yesterday the Caye Caulker Village Council disperse a cash donation to all fire victims from donations previously received. We thank each and everyone of you who assisted in making our September Celebrations and fire works a reality, we thank you for assistance in extinguishing the fire, we thank you for donating unselfishly to the fire victims. We must continue working together for a prosperous Caye Caulker.

The Children's park now have lights so you can take your children to the park in the evenings. They are automated so it turns on/off automatically. Our staff is doing an excellent job in keeping the children's park maintained.

We have commence working on the streets in Bahia and will continue to do so later in this week. We ask for your patience as the little rain have done major damages to our streets.

This week was filled with great news for the Caye Caulker Community. The SIF team was here on the ground assessing the proposed property for the new upgrade health center. Later in the day, a meeting was held with the chairlady of the Caye Caulker Village Council and various stake holders of the community. A project management committee was selected and we will keep the community up to date with this new project. We are still currently in the planning stages, but excited for the new health center.
