BELIZE FISHING REPORT

JULY 14, 2019 THROUGH JULY 21, 2019

Weather Conditions: Windy, Sunny to cloudy, Some storms.

Winds: East, 12-20 mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:27 am Sunset: 6:29 pm

Moonphase: Waning Gibbous.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bonefish action was good on protected flats and deeper water.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit action has remained good through the summer months.

TARPON (Sabalo): Most of the Tarpon were caught near the Mangroves and leeward flats.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Snapper, Jacks, Ladyfish and Barracuda.

GRAND SLAM: Steph and Stan both got their first-ever Grand Slams. Pete Kutzer landed the second Grand Slam of his visit.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

FOR PERMIT - Spawning Shrimp, Tan Crabs in size 6 & 8.

FOR TARPON - White or Chartreuse Tarpon Toads.

This Week's Summary:

More wind and stormy weather reduced visibility on the flats. Anglers still scored on Bonefish, Snook, Tarpon and Permit by fishing the Mangroves and protected areas.

Weather Conditions: Mostly sunny.

Winds: East, 10-20 mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:20 am Sunset: 6:27 pm

Moonphase: Waning Crescent.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Clearwater and light winds provided action from boats or wading.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit action has remained good through the summer months.

TARPON (Sabalo): Good conditions provided the chance to cast to Tarpon on the open flats.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Snapper, Jacks, Ladyfish and Barracuda.

BELIZE FISHING REPORT

JULY 28, 2019 THROUGH AUGUST 4, 2019

Weather Conditions: Mostly sunny, light winds most of the week.

Winds: East, 5-15 mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:32 am Sunset: 6:22 pm

Moonphase: Waxing Crescent.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bonefish action was perfect. Anglers did well wade fishing and from the boat.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit were caught on fly and spin. Anglers got shots at some exceptionally large fish.

TARPON (Sabalo): Good weather had many guides and anglers making the run to look for big migratory Tarpon.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Snapper, Jacks, Ladyfish and Barracuda.

GRAND SLAM: Hunter & Kelsey both got slams on the fly ~ Congratulations!!

FLIES THAT WORKED

AUGUST 4, 2019 THROUGH AUGUST 11, 2019

Weather Conditions: Mostly sunny, light winds most of the week.

Winds: East, 10-20 mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:33 am Sunset: 6:20 pm

Moonphase: Waxing Gibbous.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bonefish action has been good for both numbers and size. Many anglers have landed hefty Bones over 20".

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit fishing continues to be good. Bacalar Chico area has been a hotspot the past week.

TARPON (Sabalo): Tarpon have been landed on the flats, around the Mangroves and migratory Tarpon continue to be an option around the Cayes and channels south of the lodge.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Snapper, Jacks and Barracuda.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

FOR PERMIT - Spawning Shrimp, Tan Crabs in size 6 & 8.

FOR TARPON - White or Chartreuse Tarpon Toads.

This Week's Summary:

Good weather and wind conditions provided lots of opportunities to fish a variety of areas. Highlights of the week included Joel landing two Tarpon on his last day and a Father/Son double on Tarpon by Wade and Matthew.

Weather Conditions: Light winds most of the week, very windy at the end of the week.

Winds: East, 5-30 mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:35 am Sunset: 6:14 pm

Moonphase: Waning Gibbous.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Bonefish action was good even on windy days. Anglers have done well landing larger than average Bones.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit were picky this week.

TARPON (Sabalo): Several nice Tarpon were landed on the flats and around the Mangroves.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Snapper, Jacks and Barracuda.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

FOR PERMIT - Spawning Shrimp, Tan Crabs in size 6 & 8.

BONEFISH (Macabi): Very good week for numbers of Bonefish on the fly.

PERMIT (Palometta): Permit landed on fly and spin.

TARPON (Sabalo): Several nice size Tarpon landed on fly rods.

BONEFISH (Macabi): Calm winds allowed pursuing Bonefish in skinny water.

PERMIT (Palometta): Several Permit landed on the fly.

TARPON (Sabalo): A good week for Tarpon on fly rods.

OTHER SPECIES: Snook, Cubera Snapper, Snappers, Jacks and Barracuda.

GRAND SLAM: Kevin fishing with Captain Aroldo.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

This Week's Summary:

Light winds and very clear water has provided plenty of action in front of the lodge. Big Bonefish, Permit, Snook, Snapper, Jacks and Tarpon have all been landed from the dock or wading the flats near the lodge.

BONEFISH (Macabi): Very good week for numbers of Bonefish on the fly.

PERMIT (Palometta): Several nice size Permit were landed on the fly.

TARPON (Sabalo): Light winds and clear water gave opportunities for resident Tarpon on the flats.

OTHER SPECIES: Snapper, Jacks and Barracuda.

GRAND SLAM: Mike F. with Capt. Emir.

BELIZE FISHING REPORT

SEPTEMBER 23, 2019 THROUGH OCTOBER 6, 2019

Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy in the morning with a few quick rain showers shifting to sunny around midmorning.

Winds: The week started with winds coming out of the West / North West and shifted to the typical Easterly winds. Wind speeds were in the 5 - 8 mph range to start the week. By the end of the week with the shift in wind direction the winds increased to an average of 10mph.

Air Temperature: High and low in the low 80's.

Sunrise: 5:45 am Sunset: 5:36 pm

Moonphase: First Quarter heading into Full.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:

BONEFISH (Macabi): Very good week for numbers of Bonefish on the fly.

PERMIT (Palometta): Multiple permit were landed throughout the week.

TARPON (Sabalo): Light winds and clear water gave opportunities for resident and a few migratory tarpon on the flats. Numerous anglers jumped and landed multiple tarpon during their stay with us with the largest landed tarpon being roughly 90 pounds.

OTHER SPECIES: Snapper, Jacks, Triple Tail, and Barracuda.

GRAND SLAM: We didn't have any grand slams this week.

FLIES THAT WORKED

FOR BONEFISH - Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

FOR PERMIT - Spawning Shrimp, Camo Crabs in size 6 & 8.

FOR TARPON - White, Chartreuse or Yellow Tarpon Toads.

This Week's Summary:

The average and upper size of Bonefish continues to increase as a result of catch and release only regulations implemented 10 years ago by the Government of Belize. The tarpon fishing has remained good and there are still migratory fish around for those interested. The permit fishing is providing quite a few opportunities for those interested in pursuing. The weather has been great and providing good conditions for anglers, especially for the early morning bite.
