An intense hurricane is spinning over the Atlantic Ocean, but the storm is going largely unnoticed due to its remote location. Hurricane Lorenzo, currently spinning over the central Atlantic, first became a hurricane on Wednesday, but by Thursday afternoon, it had rapidly intensified into a major Category 4 hurricane. As of 5:00 a.m. EDT Saturday, Lorenzo is a healthy category 3 storm, packing winds of 115 mph. Although major hurricanes like Lorenzo are not rare in the Atlantic Basin, where it is located relative to its mighty force is very unusual. Karen has dissipated over the central Atlantic as strong vertical wind shear remains in place over the storm. For more information, check the daily Tropical Weather Outlook, click here

On Ambergris Caye this morning the wind is from the Southeast. The sky is overcast and the sea state choppy. Last night we had strong wind and hard rain.

There was a significant band of rain moved up over Belize over night from the south. The Caribbean winds are strong from the SSE, but there is high level cloud covering the whole area, yet, presently, no rain in Belize. Looks like today will be largely cloudy, but with some sunshine later, there could be more rain, particularly this afternoon or evening. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 23°C 74°F Yesterday max. 33°C 92°F Yesterday Rain 0.5 mm ( 0.02" )

The Cloud picture is still not really showing very much. But it does look as if the Pacific INVEST 94E is having some effect on our weather, particularly the thin high level. No rain on the radar.
