The National Meteorological Service of Belize issued a Flood Alert for residents in the South. Residents in the South living in flood prone areas elsewhere should be on the alert for the possibility of flooding during the next 24-48 hours. Operators of small crafts should exercise caution for gusty winds and locally rough seas near showers and thunderstorms. Due to the approaching Low pressure will result in heavy rainfall with the possibility of flooding especially near rivers and streams in the south and over other low-lying flood-prone areas across the country. Heavy rains will increase over the south on Sunday night and spread to most areas on Monday and Monday night.

Disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the southwestern Caribbean Sea and parts of Central America are associated with a broad area of low pressure over eastern Honduras. This system is forecast to continue moving west-northwestward across northern Honduras, southern Belize, and northern Guatemala, which should prevent tropical cyclone formation for the next couple of days. By Wednesday, however, the low is forecast to emerge over the southern Bay of Campeche where conditions could become a little more conducive for some organization to occur. Regardless of development, this system is expected to produce heavy rains over portions of Central America during the next few days, which could cause flooding and mudslides, especially in mountainous areas.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.

...Heavy rainfall event for Central America...

A 1010 mb surface low is centered over the SW Caribbean Sea just east of Honduras, near 15N83W. This broad area of low pressure continues to support scattered heavy showers and strong tstms S of 20N W of 74W. The strong convection is concentrated to the east of the low from 10N-20N between 74W-80W, from the coast of Colombia north to the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and SE Cuba. This system is forecast to continue moving west-northwest across northern Honduras, southern Belize, and northern Guatemala, which should prevent tropical cyclone formation for the next couple of days. We are finally beginning to get a bit more normal rain, still below half the normal for October, but there is still half the month to go. From the comments from some, sounds as if they have forgotten that Belize usually gets rain. There is still some more rain out there, some coming in later this morning and afternoon. All fairly normal October weather.

Looks as if much of today will be overcast, with continuing rain showers on and off.

From Belmopan.... Someone sent me a NEMO picture showing a potential storm coming our way. . . That is what all these warnings have been about. Now look at what the Miami weather people are showing :

Yes 0% as in Zero chance of developing into a storm.

And another wave after this present one, but more so for the North.
As they say, a tropical wave brings bands of rain, something more normal for this time of the year.
