There is a tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean. Large scale upper-level cyclonic flow covers the central and eastern Caribbean Sea north of 10N between 64W-84W. Isolated moderate convection covers this area to include Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. In the far western Caribbean and Central America scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are mostly due to the tropical wave along 93W.

Moderate trade winds are expected across most of the Caribbean through Sun night. A weak tropical wave will move west of Puerto Rico into the central Caribbean today. A second tropical wave will reach the Lesser Antilles Fri night. Winds will be enhanced near the tropical waves as they pass across the basin during the next few days. Hurricane center tracking a tropical wave moving toward Gulf of Mexico

A tropical disturbance over the Yucatan Peninsula could strengthen late this week as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico and then possibly in the direction of Florida, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said Wednesday morning.

The broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave is producing showers and thunderstorms over southern Mexico and the Bay of Campeche.

"Some development of this system is possible during the next couple of days while it moves generally northwestward and then northward over the western Gulf of Mexico," the hurricane center said Thursday.

The system is being given a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone through the weekend.

We are nearly up to the normal rain for October. There is regular chunky patches of easterly Caribbean cloud coming our way, some already in parts of south Belize causing a little rain, helped by patches of high cloud from the north.

Looks as if today will be a mixture of sunshine, clouds and the occasional rain showers.

I am surprised as it seems as if we haven't seen anywhere near as much rain as we usually do in October - but stats don't lie! today is a gorgeous day.
