Markie’s Macobi After Serpent Sidekick Snatched Away
Markie, the Roaring Creek snake man, has "Macoby" tonight after the forest department and police confiscated his pet. Today, Markie took his boa constrictor for a little outing at the Belmopan market and that's when the authorities swooped in and snatched his snake. Now, all Markie wants is to be reunited with his slithering serpent side kick.
Mark "Markie" Molina, Roaring Creek Snake Man "They too away my snake this morning. I went by Tiger Town and pay my family a visit because they wanted to see him (snake) and while coming back through the market square, Audubon met me and they didn't tell me anything. They went to the station and they came back with police and they wanted to lock me up. I told them I had already let go the snake. They told me if I didn't give them the snake that they wouldn't let me go. So I took them to the snake and they took it away. I feel hurt now, because I already gotten use to the snake, because everyone who pass by house I would entertain them. I feel bad about it, because a lot of other people have snakes. They said that I cannot get a ticket for a snake. I won't call names, but a lot of people have big snakes who got their permit and I don't see why they can't give me a permit for mine and I am the snake man for Roaring Creek and I know how to handle the animals. It's not like I mistreat them, I feed them to time, I buy chicken that cost $20 just to feed my snake once a month. I miss him, I had already got use to him although he had bitten me once, but its not every time he will be in that high temper. He just got angry that day because they were provoking him - a guy gave him stout when I wasn't around, because I wouldn't allow that to happen."
Reporter "Today were you walking around with the snake on your neck as usual or?"
Mark "Markie" Molina "Well I had it in a bucket, but then my family Kenisha call for my at lands and she told me she wants to see the snake, so I open the bucket and then people started to come around and the same time Audubon was passing and they went to the station and call the police and took away my animal. I really feel bad about that. I just want to ask the public out there to look into that for me and try to help me to get back my snake. I know I can get it back, because I am not the only person who have snakes."
While Markie says Audubon took his snake, based on the picture, it is a Forest Department official along with police who confiscated the snake. We reached out to the forest department for comment but we have not gotten a response. Now while many people have pet snakes, one forest department officer told the media that it is illegal.
