A disturbing report is emerging from San Pedro Town. A six-year-old boy was raped by a male person whom his parents know. It happened on October 25th when the boy and his father went to San Pedro Town where they stayed at a friend's house for the night. That night the boy's father left the house to buy food and when the boy was asleep the culprit raped him. A medical examination confirmed evidence of the rape. A thirty-eight-year-old man has been arrested and charged for the crime of rape of a child.

Junnie Basto remanded for raping a minor

38-year-old Junnie Basto, a resident of Barrier Reef Drive, was arrested and charged for Rape of a Child in San Pedro Town. He appeared at the San Pedro Magistrate Court on Tuesday, October 29th, where no plea was taken, and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date on December 18, 2019.

According to a police report, the incident occurred on October 13th. The report indicates that the victim, a 6-year-old boy, and his father, went to a friend's house in San Pedro to stay for the night. During the stay, his father left the house to buy food. The young boy said that he went to sleep and was awakened by a male person whom he knows. The male person proceeded to have sexual relations with him against his will.

On October 25th, a medical examination was conducted on the minor and a medical officer certified that there was evidence of anal penetration. The following day, a report was made to police, leading to the arrest and charge of Basto for the crime of Rape of a Child.
