The San Pedro High School (SPHS) female basketball team emerged victorious at the National Secondary School Association (NSSA) Northern Regional Basketball competition on Saturday, November 30th in Orange Walk Town. The competition saw teams from seven different high schools trying to best each other for the top prize. At the end of the games, the winner in the male division was New Hope High School (NHHS), who joined SPHS’ girls in their journey towards the National Championship set for the 13th and 14th of December in Orange Walk Town.
In the male division, there was no team representing SPHS this year. The male team that succeeded and advanced to Nationals was NHHS, who overcame CCC at the end of the tournament. At the end, SPHS girls and NHHS boys were declared champions of NSSA Northern Regional Basketball competition. SPHS’ Caroline Sersland was recognized for the Most Steals, while Normalee Gomez was awarded as the Most Valuable Player after scoring 25 points per game.Click here to read the rest of the article in the San Pedro Sun
