Old Belize Museum
Coming to Belize is always a fruitful experience; seeing and learning about different cultures, the food, meeting locals, experiencing all that is this beautiful country. But have you ever wondered what Belize was like in the past? Well, there’s no need to wonder because the Old Belize Museum gives you a firsthand look at what Belize used to be.
Old Belize not only serves as a museum, but it also has a restaurant, gift shop, beach, and serves as a port where catamarans and boats are docked. Upon entering you will first notice the numerous amounts of catamarans and boats docked near the pier. When walking down the pier you will see rustic, historical souvenirs of the “Old Belize” – from gasoline lanterns to gasoline irons (because electrical irons weren’t invented as yet).
A Seafood Lover’s Dream
One of the most popular attractions of visiting Belize is having the opportunity to indulge in a variety of seafood options. It is no surprise that the Jewel is highly known for its many authentic seafood cuisines as the country is close to 200 miles of shoreline on the mainland and its offshore islands. Whether it be fish, conch (when in season), lobster (when in season), shrimp, or crab, there is no doubt that your meal will be fresh!
Seafood is a diet staple in Belize. There’s just something about the taste of eating the freshest catch of the day – the undeniable flavor of the sea, that indescribable taste of heaven in every spoonful, the succulence and flavor of the meat – that just can’t be beaten!
Wine Me Dine Me: Experience the ultimate chocolate adventure in Belize
Last year I told you all about a wonderful trip to Belize organized by Enna Grazier of Enna Chocolate in Epping, New Hampshire, in which you would have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of cacao farming, processing and chocolate making as well as experience all sorts of cultural and jungle adventures. I went on that Cacao Origins Adventure trip myself last February and it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on – and I’ve been to some very interesting places in the world!
