REEF WEEK 2020 SET FOR MARCH 7-15

The Reef Week Planning Committee met today to discuss activities to commemorate Reef Week 2020, to be held from 7th-15th March.
At the end of today’s session, members , who come from several conservation organizations and supporters, unanimously selected Placencia as the venue for this year’s Reef Fair, to be held on Friday 13th March.

The group also chose as this year’s theme: “True-True Reef Love Means Yuh Stay Involve”. This theme is expected to guide activities that will be held throughout the week.

Those activities will include, among others, school presentations, coastal clean-ups, ride to the reef, and social media competition. The official list of activities will be publish within the coming weeks.

Residents of Placencia, and surrounding areas, are especially invited to participate in this year’s celebrations, which aim to bring focus on the serious impact that single-use plastics and styrofoam poses to Belize’s Barrier Reef and the entire Mesoamerica Reef system.

It’s that time of the year again to celebrate the Barrier Reef. The theme of reef week 2020 is “true true reef love means yuh stay involved!”. Reef week has been on since 2013 and will continue to be celebrated for a week of the year. Organizations come together to celebrate “Reef Week” by hosting a series of events. This fun week is filled with activities ranging from intense to relaxing, guaranteeing an enjoyable time.

Reef week is a week full of fun events all contributing to the awareness of our national resources. Below is the schedule for reef week. Everyone is welcome to join and make this event successful.
