Would love to do some horseback riding while on vacation. Is there any good place on AC or do we need to go back to the mainland? Would prefer to stay on AC if possible.

I don't know of anywhere on AC for horse back riding.

you can go on one of those day trip from AC to Altun Ha and asked to be dropped off at Maruba Resort where you'll be able to do it for the day.

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at

Years ago there was a stable on Ambergris Caye, but it's no more.

There is horseback riding at a number of the mainland lodges. Banana Bank near Belmopan has the most horses (the owner, John Carr, is a former cowboy and rodeo rider), and M.E.T. near San Ignacio is well known for its horses, too. But quite a few other lodges, including Chaa Creek and duPlooy's, do horseback rides.

Easy Rider in Cayo gets good reviews. You can access their website at
Cool small local places to stay on that site too. Check out the Smith Family Farm in Bullet Tree. I saw it and met the owner and it is one cool place. Inexpensive too.

Thanks for all the info. Since I have never been to Belize at all could you guys provide me with quick and inexpensive ways to get to these locations. We are trying to do as much as we can in the week we will be there so don't want to tie up a lot of time traveling back and forth. Thanks for your help.

we did a few days in cayo first, then flew to ac for a few. stay where there are horses, like duplooys or banana bank. that is my suggestion.

we did not do it cheaply, but of choice. there are many ways.

this site has links to all kinds of stuff. i used it a lot:
