Meeting today on Covid-19
The Caye Caulker Village Council cordially invite all grocery store owners and hotel/ accommodation owners to an URGENT meeting to update the owners on the role they can play in the preventative measures and preparations of the impending threats of Covid-19. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow Sunday 15th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Center. Please make an effort to attend.
To date, there are still no confirmed cases of Corona Virus in Belize. However, If you are ill with cough, fever, sore throat and have concerns about Corona Virus, the Caye Caulker Village Council and Medical Clinics have proactively created a number you can call to ask advice from nursing staff.
We strongly encourage if you, your family members, or someone you have come in contact with have had recent travel to areas with a large number of Corona Virus cases, (and you are presenting with symptoms), that you please call this (Non-Emergency Triage) number FIRST before visiting the clinics or pharmacies. This is advised so as to prevent contamination to other sick people waiting to be attended and to all health care workers. Appropriate guidance will then be followed from that point.
Again, please use this number to ask questions ONLY as it relates to Corona Virus symptoms. If you feel ill and realize you can safely recover (and self isolate at home), that is still the best plan for you and the health of others. This hotline can be used to help you safely recover at home.
This number is to answer Corona Virus symptoms questions only and NOT to be used for emergency purposes. Caye Caulker Corona Virus (Non-emergency triage/ information number): 600 9539.

Video: MEETING ON PROACTIVE MEASURES REGARDING THE COVID-19 Dear Caye Caulker residents and friends, we at the Law Office of Wendy Auxillou, with the blessing of the Chairlady of the Village Council, Seleny Villanueva Pott, have created a new FB page called the "Caye Caulker COVID Assistance Team" ( https://www.facebook.com/CayeCaulkerCOVIDAssistanceTeam/ ) which you can find at the link below. Please click and like our page. Through the CCCAT community page we hope to provide assistance to those in need during this time of COVID. Not every person or family in our community has the economic means to withstand an extended shutdown of our business systems or stockpile groceries for a month. To that end, we are asking businesses and persons who are able, to donate basic staples such as rice, beans, non-perishable canned goods, water, etc. to be distributed to the poor and marginalized in the event we are asked to quarantine. It is our wish that other island businesses join us in this endeavor. Let's fulfill our social responsibility to this lovely island that has allowed us to eke out a living, by giving back to the community at this time of great uncertainty for so many. The situation with COVID is a swiftly moving one. To that end we hope to have these supplies delivered and packaged by tomorrow so they can be ready for Wednesday. We want to make sure our community is ready for any eventuality. We are also looking for volunteers to moderate this page and to assist with the possible collection and packaging of food items. All donated items will be delivered to the community center for onward distribution from that location. If you would like to be a part of this initiative, please like the page and leave your name in the comments below. The first step is for us to compile a list of items needed.
