Very sad, he will be greatly missed...
RIP Gustavo Giron SR. “Do not go gentle into that good night;
Old age should burn and rave at close of day.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”
April’s Supermoon comes at a time when we mourn one of our founders, who sadly passed away due an ongoing medical condition. He was a second-generation pilot who started flying fixed-wing aircrafts at the age of 14. Gustavo Giron Sr followed his passion for aviation and pursued a career as a pilot against his mum’s wishes, but supported by his wife. Soon after obtaining his license, he started working for different entities around Guatemala City. .
Eventually, he fell in love with helicopters and there was no turning back to planes after that. In 2005 Gustavo Giron Sr and his oldest son—also named Gustavo—opened Astrum Helicopters 🚁 in Belize. The first and only helicopter company in the country, hence why we pride ourselves on being a small, family-owned business.
Gustavo Sr. played a vital role setting the foundation for Astrum Helicopters as a phenomenal pilot who was extremely talented and loved by anyone who has ever had the honor of flying with him. He will be missed dearly by our staff and his family and we honor him with this post of him flying over a supermoon some time ago. .
Rest In Peace our dear Papa
