The Caribbean Sea

An E to W mid to upper-level ridge axis is over the Caribbean along roughly along 19N. Strong subsidence from this ridge is maintaining dry and stable weather conditions across the basin, with little to no significant shower activity present. Only isolated small showers moving quickly westward over the northeastern and north-central Caribbean waters are seen. Overnight Ascat data shows fresh trades in the central Caribbean, with strong trades near the coast of Colombia. Fresh to strong trade winds are over the Gulf of Honduras. Gentle to moderate trade winds are elsewhere across the basin.

The forecast calls for the gradient associated to high pressure north of the area allowing for fresh to strong trade winds in the south- central Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras through Thu. Mainly moderate to fresh trade winds are expected elsewhere. Otherwise, smoke from agricultural fires in Central America could reduce visibility near the Yucatan Peninsula and offshore of Belize and Honduras.

WHERE IS THE IGUANA RAIN and THE MAY PLUM RAIN ?

To the new generation and even many old City Folks, the above mysteries are riddle to them.

WELL, this is a factual episode, in the Belize Story, for us who grew in rural areas. - For City folks they had their CRAB RAIN.

So the old Folks would tell us, don't worry, we will soon get the GUANA RAINS. Whether we believed it or not, the FIRST RAINS would fall, when we least expected, and so did the Iguanas dig a hole to lay her eggs.- Before those rains fell the Iguanas were loaded with eggs. - - - - So the Iguana catchers would have a field day, catching and diving iguanas to eat and sell Guana Eggs.

Then, the Dry Weather Continued, until sometimes in early May when the MAY PLUMS were ready to ripen. Suddenly there were the showers, to confirm the old saying. - - " APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS. "

Yesterday evening, the Smog was clearing Belize, but then more was coming off Honduras into the Caribbean and that is now over Belize again. There is strong, significant high level clouds from the west over the Yucatan, but only a trace over north Belize. Caribbean clouds now building up of most of Belize.

Looks like another hot smoggy day, do rain expected.

A fair bit of high level cloud coming over Belize, but you probably cant see that due to all the smog cover.
