As we all know, COVID 19 came upon us before we even had time to prepare. The business community had countless emergency meetings to try and figure out how we can ensure that we do our part to assist the islanders in this time of need. Fortunately, the chair Lady, health team and the business community moved fast to put an action plan in place that complimented the efforts of the village council. However, as donations could never be enough when the whole community has no source of income and is on lock down, The voice of caye caulker was reached by an anonymous donor who graciously donated 100 bags of food containing the basic necessities such as flour, beans, rice , sugar. Cooking oil and bath soap.
Yesterday, we distributed all bags to residents of the Bahia area and we feel great satisfaction seeing the relief on each individual's face when recieving their bag of items. While this may have been a small token to the people of Caye Caulker, we are thankful that at least for the time being our people will have a source of alimentation coming from all who has the opportunity to help.
As the community understands that this is a trying time for all of us and the entire island is being affected. We wish to Thank all other entities who have done their part to help feed the people of Caye Caulker. A great thanks to a dear friend in belize city who did all the shopping for us and put it on the barge as we are here on quarantine and not allowed to leave the island. Thanks to Sassy for giving us a discount with the shipping of the goods to the island. A big thank you also to J & Sons Golf Cart rental who donated the cart and trailer to do the delivery. Vice Chair George Delcid is always willing to help with the first word. As long as we work together in peace and harmony, in no time we will get over this hurdle with your help. For those who want to pledge their donation through us, you can send a message to The Voice Of Caye Caulker or email us at TheVoiceofCC@gmail.com. Be safe and God bless our anonymous donor.
