The Caribbean Sea
There is an active tropical wave moving across
the western Caribbean. The tropical wave is helping produce
active weather south of Cuba.
Fresh to strong winds are noted over the south central Caribbean.
Elsewhere, fresh winds prevail over the north central Caribbean,
moderate winds prevail over the eastern Caribbean, and light to
gentle winds prevail over the western Caribbean.
The pressure gradient between high pressure north of the area and
low pressure over Colombia will maintain fresh to locally strong
trade winds over the south- central Caribbean this week.
Elsewhere, gentle to moderate trade winds will persist across
the region for the next several days. Expect increasing winds
and seas over the NE Caribbean toward the end of the week as
high pressure builds across the western Atlantic.
The easterly Caribbean winds are very slow this morning. High level is milling all around in different directions, possibly a gyra or what ever they call a general anticlockwise direction, although not particularly obvious at present. Basically high cloud in many areas, but not over Belize at present. There is a sort of area to be watched, INVEST 90L but that is Texas. Another area in the Pacific, of no concern to us, and an early possible INVEST 99L activity, off Africa and now north of Brazil, that has the potential to develop.
Looks like today will be mainly sunny, but clouds developing, could be some isolated rain later.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 27°C 80°F Yesterday max. 34°C 93°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")
Present Condition: Mostly clear. Generally fair conditions prevail but a slight increase in moisture is expected later today and tomorrow. 24hr Forecast: Sunny with cloudy spells this afternoon and cloudy at times tonight and tomorrow morning. A few showers and thunderstorms will develop over northern and inland areas this afternoon then mainly over the south and coast tonight and tomorrow morning. Residents, especially those in inland areas are advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight or outdoor activity as much as possible.
