Government launches Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise program

The Government of Belize, through a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Labour, Local Government and Rural Development and BELTRAIDE, announces the launch of phase two of the Unemployment Aid Program by Government COVID-19, incorporating the MIPYMES Support Program that was previously announced.

The launch of the MIPYMES Program begins today, August 1, 2020, with the deployment of the program's website providing program information, frequently asked questions and instructions on how to apply, before the official opening of the portal of the app. The online application portal will open for applications on Monday, August 3, 2020.

The online application portal for the Unemployment Relief Program will also reopen on August 3, 2020. Workers who have been fired due to COVID-19 and freelancers who have lost their income as well result of COVID-19 you can apply. Phase one applications and approvals will not be transferred to phase two as some unemployed people returned to work and new people were unemployed. This program will be implemented for a period of three months.

Under this program, $ 14 million is allocated for unemployment relief and $ 14.5 million for grants, loans and salary grants for the MIPYMES Support Program, which aims to help micro, small and medium companies that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19. emergency
