The Caribbean Sea
A large area of fresh to strong trades persists across the central
Caribbean, in the wake of a tropical wave that is analyzed near
78W this morning. Overnight scatterometer data showed near gale-
force winds near the coast of Colombia. Available altimeter data
indicates seas of 8 ft or greater have spread across the waters
between Hispaniola and Colombia. Seas likely peak around 12-13 ft
just off the coast of Barranquilla. Elsewhere, fresh winds are
noted in the Gulf of Honduras region. Isolated thunderstorms are
seen in recent satellite and lightning data over the eastern
Caribbean offshore waters, as well as over the SW Caribbean to the
north of the eastern Pacific monsoon trough.
Fresh to strong trade winds are expected in the south-central
Caribbean through the middle of next week. Near gale-force winds
will pulse near the coast of Colombia and in the Gulf of Venezuela
early this morning and again tonight. Elsewhere, moderate to
fresh trades will continue for the next several days. Winds and
seas may increase over the Tropical N Atlantic waters during the
middle of next week as a tropical wave crosses the region.
Showers and thunderstorms located about 300 miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands and about 2,500 miles east-southeast of the LesserAntilles are associated with a westward-moving tropical wave.
Some slow development of this system is possible over the next few days but by the middle of next week environmental conditions are expected to become LESS conducive for development while it is still well east of the islands.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a wind from the East at 20 mph creating a rough sea state. The morning began with thunder and more rain. The coconuts are heavy with water from recent rains and fall with a loud thump on the sand, a humorous but serious hazard for those standing under the tree for shelter. Today's expected high temperature is 86 f.
The Caribbean winds are steady from the east, but there is some patchy high level cloud from the north, clashing in a few places, a number of small swellups in north and central Belize, but a large area over southern Toledo.
Looks as if today will be largely sunny, but with significant clouds, and a significant chance of rain showers anywhere.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 25°C 77°F Yesterday max. 30°C 87°F Yesterday Rain 24 mm ( 0.9")
