Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
There is a strong
tropical wave that will be entering the eastern Caribbean Tuesday. An upper-level low pressure centered over central Cuba is inducing
scattered moderate convection between Cuba, Jamaica, and the
Cayman Islands, as well as in the Gulf of Honduras. The ITCZ is
producing showers and thunderstorms over the Windward Islands and
extreme SE Caribbean. Scattered moderate convection is also
occurring offshore Panama in association with the eastern Pacific
monsoon trough. Moderate trade winds are occurring across most of
the basin early this morning.
Generally moderate trades will prevail through much
of the basin into late week. A strong, fast moving tropical wave
will cross the Windward and southern Leeward Islands today, then
move across the eastern and central Carribbean Tue and Wed,
bringing squally conditions, gusty winds, and potentially heavy
rainfall. There is a low chance of tropical development from this
wave over the eastern Caribbean, but a medium chance when it
slows over the western Caribbean late week.
A fast-moving tropical wave located a couple of hundred miles east of the Windward Islands continues to produce disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. This disturbance is expected to move westward at about 20 mph during the next few days, and that fast forward speed is likely to limit significant development while the system approaches the Windward and southern Leeward Islands today, and moves across the eastern and central Caribbean Sea on Tuesday and Wednesday. After that time, however, the system is expected to move more slowly westward across the western Caribbean Sea, where upper-level winds could become more conducive for the development of a tropical depression during the latter part of this week. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent.
This system is currently over 2000 miles from Belize and does not pose an immediate threat to the country. However, the National Meteorological Service of Belize will continue to monitor the progress of this system very closely.
Another tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic to the south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing disorganized cloudiness and showers. The wave is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph during the next few days, and environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive for the development of a tropical depression during the middle-to-latter part of this week while the system moves across the central and western portions of the tropical Atlantic. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent.

There is a whole area of high level clashing or ITCZ swellups just off the coast. Their rain is being brought in towards Belize by the easterly Caribbean winds. So I am expecting rain moving into much of southern Belize and a few areas of rain in central belize this morning.
Looks like today will be rather mixed, bright sunshine in the north, cloud in central regions and a mixture of sunshine, cloud and rain in the south.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 26°C 78°F Yesterday max. 34°C 92°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")
There appears to be a mid-level air movement, above the easterly Caribbean winds, bringing that high level clashing in over Belize causing rain. ( Pity the met office Rain radar not working ) Had a little heavy rain in Belmopan. Looks as if rain moving into southern Belize
The dotted lines show the typical temperatures and monthly rain. So you can see how this year has varied from normal, particular the odd Rain patterns. We were hotter and dryer in April than normal, but then abnormal heavy rain in May, see the long dash line.
Present Condition: Mostly cloudy. A light and relatively moist northeasterly airflow prevails over the area, but drier conditions are expected tomorrow. 24hr Forecast: Sunny with cloudy spells this afternoon, becoming partly cloudy tonight and tomorrow morning. A few showers and thunderstorms will move further inland and affect mostly Central and Southern districts this afternoon, then the Toledo District tonight, becoming isolated tomorrow morning. Elsewhere, showers or thunderstorms will be isolated.
