Belize NMS:
Present Condition: Mostly cloudy this morning. Warm and mostly fair conditions will prevail over most areas.

24-hour forecast:
Cloudy spells today with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms inland this afternoon and partly cloudy tonight with isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Outlook:
For Wednesday and Wednesday night is for a few showers and thunderstorms mostly over southern and inland areas.
Sargassum Forecast from August 19, 2020 to August 25, 2020:
Observations continue to show an abundance of sargassum mats making landfall on beaches across the country and this is expected to continue through to next week. San Pedro has a high probability and a major expected impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook:
At 3:00am Tropical Storm Laura was centered near latitude 22.9N, longitude 85.7W, or about 85 miles NW of the Western Tip of Cuba. Laura was moving to the WNW at 17mph with maximum sustained winds of 65mph. No new tropical cyclone is expected to form in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico during the next 48 hours.

Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
An upper level cyclonic circulation center is about 740 nm to
the east of T.S. Laura. Upper level cyclonic wind flow covers
parts of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea from 12N to
28N between 60W and 80W. Precipitation: isolated moderate to
locally strong covers the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean
in the areas of upper level cyclonic wind flow.
A tropical wave is along 84W/85W, from 16N southward, moving W
10 to 15 knots. The tropical wave is passing through the eastern
sections of Honduras, central Nicaragua, and the NW corner of
Costa Rica, continuing into the eastern Pacific Ocean. The
monsoon trough is along 11N73W in NE Colombia, to 11N80W, to
central Nicaragua, through southern Honduras, and southern El
Salvador, into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Precipitation:
scattered to numerous strong is within 45 nm on either side of
the line 11N71W 09N73W 08N75W 06N78W, in Colombia. Isolated
moderate to locally strong is elsewhere from 02N to 15N between
73W and 85W, that includes: the SW corner of the Caribbean Sea,
the coastal waters of Panama and Colombia in the eastern Pacific
Ocean, and any other inland areas.
Tropical Storm Laura center near 22.7N 84.0W 996 mb at 11 PM EDT
is moving WNW at 17 kt. The maximum sustained winds are 55 kt
gusts 60 kt. Laura will move into the SE Gulf of Mexico to near
23.7N 86.3W on Tuesday morning, with maximum sustained winds 60
kt gusts 75 kt. LAURA will intensify to a hurricane in the
central Gulf of Mexico near 25.2N 89.1W Tue evening, with
maximum sustained winds 70 kt gusts 85 kt. Laura will continue
to intensify while moving across the NW Gulf of Mexico through
Wed. Atlantic Ocean high pressure gradually will shift southward
through the next few days. This will lead to an increase of
trade winds in the central and northeast sections of the
Caribbean Sea.

LAURA NOW FORECAST TO BECOME A MAJOR HURRICANE OVER THE NORTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO ON WEDNESDAY At 400 AM CDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Laura was located near latitude 22.9 North, longitude 85.7 West. Laura is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h). This general motion should continue today. A turn toward the northwest is forecast by Wednesday, and a northwestward to north-northwestward motion should continue through Wednesday night. On the forecast track, the center of Laura will move away from Cuba and over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico this morning. Laura is then forecast to move over the central and northwestern Gulf of Mexico tonight and Wednesday, approach the Upper Texas and Southwest Louisiana coasts on Wednesday night and move inland near those area on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Significant strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Laura is now expected to be a major hurricane at landfall. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb (29.39 inches). MARCO BECOMES A REMNANT LOW JUST SOUTH OF LOUISIANA... ...THIS IS THE LAST ADVISORYAt 400 AM CDT (0900 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Marco was located near latitude 28.8 North, longitude 91.2 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the west near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next day or so. On the forecast track, Marco should continue moving westward just offshore the coast of Louisiana until the system dissipates. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional weakening is expected, and Post-Tropical Cyclone Marco is forecast to dissipate by early Wednesday, if not sooner. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb (29.77 inches). There is a lot of cloud outpouring from HURRICANE LAURA but no easterly Caribbean wind over Belize. This storm has been sitting around the western end of Cuba for a couple of days, and has finally intensified to just a Cat.1 this morning, so should start to move northwards soon. Meanwhile, leaving a lot of mid and high level cloud over Belize. Presently, no indication of rain in Belize, just a lot of cloud, just a small trace of SW "Tiger" wind. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 26°C 78°F Yesterday max. 35°C 96°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")
