Sargassum Forecast from September 29, 2020 to October 07, 2020:
Latest observations do not show significant amounts of Sargassum in the area. However, there is still the chance that a few small mats could drift into our area during the next few days with minimal impacts. San Pedro has a low probability and a minimal expected impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook:
A broad area of low pressure has developed over the west-central Caribbean Sea. Showers and thunderstorms are slowly becoming better organized with this system, and there is a high chance for a tropical depression or tropical storm to form during the next 48 hours, over the northwestern Caribbean Sea or the southern Gulf of Mexico. The National Meteorological Service of Belize continues to monitor the progress of this system as it moves slowly west-northwestward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea.

Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
Low pressure in the northwest Caribbean is becoming better
organized this morning. The low is centered near 17N84W, and has
an estimated pressure of 1006 mb. Strong, rotating convection is
building near the center of the low, and a large band is observed
within 180 nm to the northeast of the center. The low pressure
developed along a tropical wave, currently moving into Central
America. Environmental conditions are favorable enough to support
a high chance for the low pressure to develop into a tropical
depression or a tropical storm today or Saturday as it moves
slowly to the northwest into the northeastern Yucatan peninsula.
The low may emerge into the south central Gulf of Mexico by
Sunday, then shift westward through early next week. Regardless of
development, the slow moving low pressure will likely bring heavy
rains, with possible flash flooding, to portions of southeastern
Mexico, Central America, and western Cuba during the next several
days. Seas will build over the far northwestern Caribbean and
Yucatan Channel through Saturday night, and in the south- central
Gulf through early next week.

On Ambergris Caye this morning we have a 12 mph wind from the North after a night of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. The strong Northern winds make the sea state's appearance around our barrier reef deceptive. It's currently very hazardous for boats or any watersports.

We now have a storm on our back door. The hurricane people are only calling it TD TWENTY-FIVE but, to me it is a much larger and more significant storm than many they give names to as tropical storms. Perhaps because it is not a threat to the States, and perhaps, because, it is mainly a rain event, despite very significant, large area rotation, being helped by the cool air pushing down from the north over the Yucatan. There is Caribbean wind from the east pushing in over the north and most of Belize right now and high cloud from this storm, also from the east, and at the same time, there is mid-level cool air cloud pushing in from the west, over most of Belize, so there will be some clashing going on, at present that does not appear to be rain yet, but there probably will be later today. Looks like today will be mainly cloudy, with patches and areas of rain later, in any part of Belize. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/belmopanwx201002.jpg) Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 25°C 77°F Yesterday max. 32°C 90°F Yesterday Rain 30 mm ( 1.2") For more information on Tropical Depression 25, which is east of Belize, click here Also check the daily Tropical Weather Outlook: click here
