Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

Hurricane Delta is in the central Caribbean. An upper low centered just off the Leeward Islands is supporting scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Windward Islands and much of the far eastern Caribbean. Dry, subsident air on the western side of the upper low is keeping the area from eastern Cuba to the Virgin Islands with little to no cloud cover.

Outside the main area of Delta, strong W to NW winds are noted across Belize, over the Gulf of Honduras, and along the Honduran coast, with seas estimated to be 5 to 7 ft. Gentle to moderate trade winds with 3 to 5 ft seas are noted over the eastern Caribbean, with light breezes and modest seas over the southwest Caribbean.

For the forecast, Winds and seas will diminish in the wake of Delta over the northwest Caribbean by late Wed into early Thu, moderate SE winds through the remainder of the week. Moderate to fresh trade winds will again become the norm over the eastern and central Caribbean by mid week, with continued light breezes and slight seas over the southwest Caribbean.

HURRICANE DELTA is now at Cat.3 and is presently expected to go over the top corner of the Yucatan at Cat.3 There is some cloud from that storm coming our way but slowly, being held back by the strong westerly winds over Belize, partly the cool air from the States and partly the remnants of the earlier storm, which, as far as rain is concerned, has redeveloped over much of north Yucatan assisted by this new hurricane, but a lot of heavy rain over the north Yucatan. No rain, at present in Belize.

Looks as if we will continue with strong west winds, and patchy clouds for most of the day, no indication of rain at present, but there could be later.

The clouds over Belize are from the west, but a strong surface wind from the SW Beaufort number 6-7 which is 25-35mph and that is close to tropical storm force winds, but what we are getting is not part of the storm.
The actual HURRICANE DELTA is now at Cat.4

Oct 6 15:20 GMT 18.2 N 82.7 W 130 mph 954 mb Hurricane Category 4

But, as far as I can tell, that is a fairly small, rapid centre, the overall size is not as big as Gamma was. So it is more of a high intensity small hurricane. Still, not looking good for Cancun.

Present Condition: Partly cloudy. A gusty westerly airflow prevails over the area, while Hurricane Delta moves west-northwestward over the Northwestern Caribbean Sea.
24hr Forecast: Sunny with some cloudy spells this afternoon, becoming mostly cloudy tonight and tomorrow morning. While conditions will continue to be windy, light rain or isolated showers are possible over inland areas this afternoon, then a few showers and thunderstorms will occur over the north tonight and tomorrow morning.

A small craft warning is in effect for strong wind gusts and accompanying rough seas. Operators of small crafts are advised to remain in safe harbor. A flood watch is in effect for the possibility of localized flooding over flood prone areas in the north.

Hurricane Delta, is near Belizean waters and making its way to Mexico's south-eastern State of Quintana Roo. Although this major hurricane will have minimal effects in the country, Belizeans are advised to continue monitoring Hurricane Delta.
