The Sustainable Tourism Program II (STP2), financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) through the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation makes a signifigant investment at the Caracol Archeological Reserve towards Renewable Energy.

STP2 funded three independent solar systems, two back up generators and installed (8) 3,000 gallons water tanks with an automatic water pump.

The reserve now has 24 HOURS SOLAR POWER and adequate water storage capacity which benefits visitors, park rangers, tourism police, and the BDF.
