Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

Scattered showers are in the far eastern Caribbean being supported by an upper level trough that extends from the central tropical Atlc SW to a base near northern Colombia. Diffluence between the upper trough and an upper level high over the western half of the basin supports similar rainshower activity over the SW and NW Caribbean. Otherwise, a tropical wave near 75W is generating showers between Haiti and Jamaica.

A tropical wave will bring moderate to fresh winds and building seas to the tropical waters E of the Lesser Antilles today and Wed, and to the eastern half of the Caribbean Wed through Sat night. Moderate trade winds over the south-central Caribbean will increase to fresh speeds Thu evening as high pressure establishes N of the area. These winds will prevail through the weekend, increasing to strong in the Gulf of Venezuela at night.

A tropical wave and associated broad area of low pressure located about 600 miles east of the Windward Islands have changed little in organization this morning. Upper-level winds are gradually becoming less conducive, so only some slow additional development is possible today. By tonight, upper-level winds are expected to become even less favorable for tropical cyclone formation to occur.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent.

A tropical wave located approximately 600 miles east of the Windward Islands has a weak low pressure area associated with it. This feature, designated 93L, is moving through a region featuring strong easterly wind shear. This shear is likely strong enough to inhibit tropical development during the next few days as this wave and area of low pressure tracks to the west-northwest. Regardless of development, 93L will bring the Lesser Antilles strong gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall later tonight into Thursday. 93L is expected to track westward through the eastern Caribbean during the latter part of the week then into the central Caribbean by this coming weekend.

The rest of the Atlantic basin remains relatively quiet, and additional tropical development is not expected through the rest of this week and through the upcoming weekend.

Some long-range models suggest an area to watch for tropical development may be the western parts of the Caribbean Sea later next week. Some of the guidance show an area of low pressure forming south or southwest of Jamaica around midweek before slowly becoming stronger and better organized, perhaps into a tropical depression or storm, by the end of the week.

There is a lot of fog or low blanket cloud around this morning. the Caribbean winds are from the E by N and the high level clouds are also in the same direction, causing clashing and rain in quite a few places. Presently mainly in the south of Belize. But could be anywhere later.

Looks as if today will have a lot of cloud, with sunny patches later, but a high chance of some rain showers.
