Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
T.S. Eta is close to the western tip of Cuba and the eastern
portion of the Yucatan Channel, and will remain in that vicinity
through today, spreading rain squalls and high seas over the
area. Eta will move northward and away from the Yucatan Channel
on Wednesday. Large swells from Eta are expected to propagate
over the western Caribbean today before subsiding on Wednesday.
Farther east, an area of strong upper-level diffluence is
enhancing scattered moderate to strong convection from 15N-21N
between 66W-71W, including near and over portions of Puerto
Rico, the Dominican Republic and the Mona Passage. A recent ASCAT
pass shows fresh winds in the E Caribbean, strong winds in the NW
Caribbean, and gentle winds elsewhere in the basin.
A tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean will move through the
central Caribbean during the next couple of days. Low pressure
could form along the wave with the potential for tropical
cyclone development late this week or over the weekend. Expect
winds and seas to increase over most sections of the central
Caribbean beginning on Thu.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Eta, located over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico and on newly formed Subtropical Storm Theta, located over the eastern Atlantic. A tropical wave located over the eastern Caribbean Sea is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This wave is expected to move westward into more conducive environmental conditions, and a tropical depression could form late this week or this weekend when the wave reaches the central or western Caribbean Sea. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent. The above area of concern is with a tropical wave in the central Caribbean. Shear is forecast to be rather low over the next several days, and an area of low pressure may take shape early in the week. Should this take place, the combination of warm seas and low wind shear would support tropical development. This bears watching as there is a low to moderate chance of development over the next several days, and this may become a threat to Central America, Jamaica and/or Cuba. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/555667u.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/hurricaneoutlook201110.jpg) For more on Tropical Storm Eta, click here For further information on tropical conditions, check the daily Tropical Weather Outlook, click here

Tropical Storm Eta has strengthened almost on the point of west Cuba, closer to land than they are showing. That other area in the north Atlantic I mentioned a couple of days ago, they have now named it as Subtropical Storm Theta and it is going towards Spain. Eta has been taking the moist air away from Belize and help to pull cool air down from the north. There is some high level cloud from the SW over parts of Toledo. There is another area of cloud developing off Nicaragua this morning. Looks as if today will be mainly sunny, with some clouds developing later, no rain expected. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last night min. 23°C 74°F Yesterday 30°C 87°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")

Crown Weather: I’m keeping a close eye on the potential for a tropical disturbance that is now located over the eastern Caribbean (Invest 98) to become a tropical depression or a tropical storm late this week and this weekend in the central or western Caribbean. Analysis indicates that the environmental conditions will be favorable for this disturbance to develop once it reaches the central Caribbean later this week. At this point, all of the model guidance are showing development of this system with the most likely track right now into either Central America or into the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize sometime next week.
