Since the start of this school year, the Belize National Teachers Union has been lobbying for teachers to conduct their virtual classrooms from their home. This request has been rejected by the Ministry of Education, but there is some leniency as teachers were allowed to stay at home this week in lieu of Hurricane Iota. They were expected to return to work on Monday, November 23, but an internal memo from the Ministry is allowing the teachers to stay at home for the entirety of next week, returning on Monday, November 30. The reason cited was due to heavy rainfall and flooding.
