Present Condition: Cloudy this morning, not as heavy as the last few days. Improving weather conditions expected over the area. The National Meteorological Service of Belize has forecast that the rain could continue through Tuesday, November 24th.
Advisories: *A Flood Warning remains in effect for low-lying and flood prone areas of the country and residents in the Belize River Valley and downstream areas should remain vigilant as the rising flood waters move downstream towards the coast.*

Mostly cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms over some coastal and offshore areas this morning and tonight, then mostly over central and inland areas this afternoon. Elsewhere, showers or thunderstorms will be isolated.

Outlook:
For Monday and Monday night is for isolated showers or thunderstorms, except for slightly more over the south.
Sargassum Forecast from November 17, 2020 to November 25, 2020:
Sargassum impacts over our area remain low and no major change is expected during the new few days. San Pedro has a low probability and a minimal expected impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook:
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico during the next 48 hours.

The Caribbean Sea
There are two tropical waves in the Caribbean. Fresh NE winds prevail over the NW Caribbean as noted in recent
scatterometer data. These winds will diminish by this evening,
however will resume on Mon evening as high pressure builds over
the Gulf of Mexico and the SW N Atlantic waters in the wake of a
cold front. Unsettled weather associated with the waves will
affect central America and the west Caribbean through mid-week.
Large northerly swell will impact the tropical Atlantic waters
east of the Leeward Islands through Mon. Trade winds will increase
over the central Caribbean Tue through Thu.
There are no organized features in the Atlantic basin at this time.
We continue to track several tropical waves moving westward across the Atlantic basin, but no further development of any of these waves is anticipated.
A broad trough of low pressure located near and north of the Turks and Caicos Islands continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. A low pressure area could form within the next couple of days as the trough lifts northward, and there is a slight chance it could briefly acquire subtropical characteristics early this week before merging with a cold front. Later this week, this system may have a second opportunity to develop subtropical characteristics if it becomes separated from the front and meanders over the central Atlantic. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.

On Ambergris Caye this morning the sun came up and we can see blue sky after a record-breaking amount of rainfall and general gloom. The sea around our barrier reef is calm from a Northwind at 15 mph. Today's expected high temperature is 82 f.
This cloud and rain forming is continuing near Belize, again, at present, mainly just off shore, but its cloud is effecting most of Belize, so a risk of rain at any time.
Looks like today will be almost entirely covered with cloud most of the day, some low level some high level.

24hr Forecast: Mostly cloudy skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over inland, central and offshore areas this afternoon. Activity may linger over some southern and offshore areas tonight into tomorrow morning, while being isolated elsewhere.
A flood warning remains in effect for low-lying and flood prone areas of the country. Residents in the Belize River Valley and downstream areas should remain vigilant as the rising flood waters move downstream towards the coast.
Outlook: Cloudy spells with showers and thunderstorms being isolated, while a few more may develop over the southern districts Monday afternoon through midday Tuesday.
GRADUAL IMPROVEMENT OF WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED BUT BE VIGILANT
Satellite loop showing deep convection over southern coastal water this morning; less deep rainclouds noted elsewhere over the mainland. Expect a gradual improvement in the weather over most areas this week! High floodwaters will persist in the low reaches of the watersheds this week.

The National Hydrological Service of Belize and NEMO hereby inform the general public that major flooding is affecting most of the country due to Hurricane Iota.
A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT Significant areas of the Corozal, Orange Walk, Cayo and Belize districts are experiencing severe flooding. Residents living along or near to these rivers are called upon to take the NEMO advisories seriously. Move to safety to save life and protect property.
SHELTERS, there are a total of 288 persons in 14 shelters in 3 districts. 57 people in two shelters in Orange walk, in Belize Rural five shelters are opened with a total of 42 persons, in Cayo specifically in Calla Creek there are four shelters with 88 persons, and one in San Ignacio with 15 persons and in the village of More Tomorrow there are 86 persons in two shelters.
ROADS AND BRIDGES AFFECTED. In the COROZAL DISTRICT, Caledonia, Sarteneja, Copper Bank, and Progresso roads are impassable and the Consejo road is inundated. In RURAL BELIZE DISTRICT the Boom/Hattieville Road and Bomba causeway are impassable for small vehicular traffic, the Crooked Tree causeway and the Boom Road in front of the Police Station are impassable. Santa Martha and Flowers Bank roads are only accessible to high vehicle. In CAYO the Low-Lying Wooden Bridge and the Iguana Creek Bridge are under water and in More Tomorrow Village, both roads are impassable at this time. In STANN CREEK the Coastal Road is trafficable from Hope Creek to Gales Point. Drivers need to drive with extreme caution as culverts are being replaced due to ongoing construction of the highway. Numerous small wooden, concrete and hammock bridges are either destroyed or significantly damaged in the affected districts.
Water contamination is a major threat to health. The public is advised by BWS to store water. The treatment of water for human consumption in flooded areas is compulsory before it can be used for drinking purposes. DO NOT DRINK DISCOLOURED WATER OR WATER WITH A SMELL. As advised by public health one (1) tablespoon of bleach can purify 5 gallons of water but allow it to settle for thirty minutes before using.
