Marine Conditions:

The Caribbean Sea

High pressure over both the Gulf of Mexico and the central Atlantic continue to support moderate to locally fresh winds across the basin. Scattered showers are observed in a swath from Hispaniola, the Windward Passage to the Gulf of Honduras to Nicaragua adjacent waters. This activity is supported by shallow moisture and divergent flow between two middle level anticyclones.

Surface ridge over the Gulf of Mexico will shift eastward to the region of the Bahamas today and will result in a stronger pressure gradient in the Caribbean. This in turn will increase the winds in the south-central Caribbean through Thu and support fresh to strong NE winds across the Windward passage.

There are no organized features in the Atlantic basin at this time.

A broad area of low pressure located several hundred miles south of Bermuda continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms, Strong upper-level winds are expected to inhibit development of the system for the next day or so after the low merges with a frontal system. By late Wednesday or Thursday, the system could become separated from the front, allowing it to possibly develop some subtropical characteristics while it meanders over the central Atlantic.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent.

Vary mixed weather today. Sunshine in the north and a few other spots, cloud, some heavy in most central and southern parts, where there could be some rain.

Looks like there will be a fair bit of sunshine today, possibly small amounts of rain.
