The Ministry of Health and Wellness Shares Condolences to the Vega Family
The Minister of Health and Wellness, Hon. Michel Chebat, joins Belizeans in prayer and expressing condolences to the Vega Family on the passing of Hon. David Vega.
A renowned Belizean, “Dido”, as he was affectionately known, was a family man, brother, dear friend, political colleague, and champion for the people of Corozal Bay. Hon. Vega died as a result of complications due to COVID-19. Unfortunately, he did not respond to resuscitation efforts.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds the public that if you have symptoms of COVID-19, it is important to stay home and remain in isolation, except to get tested. If you have difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, or chest pain, seek medical attention immediately. Now, more than ever, it is important to seek medical advice and/or care early. This could be the difference between life and death.
The death of a beloved colleague reminds us that COVID-19 does not discriminate. The public must continue to follow the guidelines and the advice of the Ministry of Health and Wellness: wear masks properly, practice physical distancing, wash and sanitize hands often.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness once again offers its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hon. David Vega.
Let us join forces in the fight against COVID-19.
