Just thought I'd bring this back to the top. It sounds like people need something to laugh at today [Linked Image]

Thank you SeaJay, yes, I did make me smile again. [Linked Image]

Actually, I chuckled again, not just laughed. I can so see him in my mind's eye, it is as if I was there.

I went on a trip with Omar too...
Thank god he just offered to be our fishing guide for the day!
I thought the same crazy things too, we don't know this guy and he did have a big knife on the boat to clean the fish.
He was suppose to be the best fisherman on the island (told by locals), and that he knew all the hot fishing spots.
--Long story short five hour fishing trip and between the three of us, I was the only one to catch a fish (Baracuda)!
NOT to impressed with the best fisherman- but he is a neat guy!
Really enjoyed your story!

This is a good time to remind New Visitors, Guides, must have a license in Belize.
If you pay a person to take you out fishing or snorkeling and he does not have the proper license, your trip could be terminated and you will not get your money back, is my understanding.

Touché Chloe - the licensed guides are held to certain standards and cannot keep their license if they don't live up to these standards. It not only protects us from being ripped off for our tour fees, but it also protects us from guides who don't know what the heck they are doing. Licensed guides go through an educational program to learn about the areas in which they guide us. With a licensed guide, we probably would not have gotten lost in the jungle and brandilee3 might have caught more fish.

Brandilee, I think you must have been with a different Omar (the fisherman guy).

The Omar I met, and I'm pretty sure the same one SeaJay met, is very young, only about 20 years old, tall for a Belizean and skinny as a stick and I'm also reasonably sure that he doesn't have a boat. He's also a woodcarver.

But as someone else said, (maybe it was SeaJay) we've probably all met some like "Omar" in Belize.

One of the things that I liked about the "Omar" that I met, was he seemed to have this spiritual side. He was really into being free to do what he wanted when he wanted to do it too. And the things that he wanted to be free to do, seemed to be things like taking a long run up the coast, or going down the coast to meditate on the beach. [Linked Image]

Wow, thanks for the report.

BUT, I don't think I will be going that far south. I'm sooo glad I asked. We will be taking the golf cart up north again though. That was fun, we did alot of dreaming up there. Looking at the houses for sale.

What's past Captain Morgan's?
68 more days. Way too long!!
