A little under three hundred police officers are off duty due to COVID-related issues. Of that number, one hundred and forty-four have tested positive for the virus. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams tells us more.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have up to this morning, two hundred and ninety-eight officers out. Of those, two hundred and ninety-eight, one hundred and forty-four are positive and the others are awaiting results. So, that is where we are.”
“Are the rapid tests still being administered to your officers?”
“Yes, rapid tests are still being administered it is just that there is still an issue where we are being told that where the rapid test is negative, that the officers still need to do a PCR test. So, once they do the PCR test my instruction is that they are not to come to work until the result of that PCR is back. So, that is our hold up for that.”
