The San Pedro Lions Club continues helping the vulnerable and affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic by providing groceries to families in need on the island. Their efforts saw them delivering 100 bags filled with groceries, aiming to feed 500 islanders. According to the island’s Lions Club, most of the assistance went to senior citizens. The grocery bags distribution, which took place on Monday, December 14th, was five bags per family and included essential food items such as beans, rice, meats, flour, and sugar, among other things. They also had hygienic and cooking products. The food assistance was made possible thanks to donors on the island and from abroad.
On Tuesday, December 15th, Hope Haven Children’s Home and Empowerment Center received ten merry bags for families assisted by the center. The club has also allowed the use of their den and grill for fundraiser events at no cost. On Sunday, December 13th, the most recent event saw a group of islanders hosting a BBQ sale to raise much-needed funds to help their sick relatives.
