General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Cloudy this morning. Relatively moist and unstable conditions prevail.
Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Cloudy spells with some showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Winds: N-NE, 5-15 kts

Outlook: For Wednesday is for a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, decreasing Wednesday night.
Sargassum Forecast from January 5, 2020 to January 13, 2021: There is the chance of a few sargassum mats drifting into the area this week but impacts are expected to remain minimal to moderate. San Pedro has a medium probability and a moderate expected impact.

The Caribbean Sea

A Gale Warning is in effect near the coast of Colombia. Elsewhere, the most recent ASCAT data show strong winds covering the central Caribbean south of 17N between 67W-80W. Fresh trades are east of 67W. Moderate to fresh winds are seen elsewhere. Scattered showers cover the western Caribbean west of 78W, enhanced by upper level divergence over the area.

High pressure north of the area will maintain fresh to strong trade winds across the eastern and central Caribbean through mid week, with pulses to gale force off Colombia during the overnight and early morning hours. These winds and seas will diminish Thu through Sat as the high pressure weakens and shifts east.

Marty OP	Very similar to the last few days, cloud and heavy cloud over most parts of Belize, some sunny areas in coastal southern areas. A lot of SW high level cloud clashing with the easterly Caribbean winds in many places, causing rain and some heavy rain, but that is still mainly out at sea and to the north. Much of north Belize, Guatamala and the Yucatan under Fog or Low clouds. Looks as if today will generally remain very cloudy, with a high chance of rain, some could be heavy, but many parts getting little or no rain. Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 21°C 69°F Yesterday 28°C 83°F Yesterday Rain 4.5 mm ( 0.2") This Morning Rain 13.5 mm ( 0.5") Morning sunrise in San Pedro, photo courtesy Brian Keating

Marty OP	Cool air is continuing to come down from the NW and the Caribbean easterly clouds coming in and riding up over the cool air, resulting in a lot of cloud cover. . . Not much high level cloud activity over Belize at present.

Relatively moist and unstable airflow is dominating our weather. 24hr Forecast: Cloudy to overcast skies with a few showers and periods of rain affecting manly coastal areas during the daytime, then spreading to most areas tonight and tomorrow Outlook: For Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon is for cloudy skies with a few showers or periods of rain over most areas on Wednesday, then gradually decreasing on Thursday.
