Marine Conditions:
The Caribbean Sea
A tight gradient due to high pressure north of the area is
supporting fresh to strong NW winds in the lee of Cuba, Windward
Passage, off Cabo Beata on the southern coast of Hispaniola, and
over much of the south central and southwest Caribbean, to include
the winds to gale force off Colombia. Fresh trade winds persist
over the eastern Caribbean, and moderate to fresh NE winds are
noted elsewhere in the northwest Caribbean. Seas are 8 to 13 ft
over the southwest Caribbean due in part to NE to E swell. Seas
are reaching 8 ft off Belize and Quintana Roo due to the long
fetch of fresh NE winds from the Cuban coast. 5 to 7 ft seas are
noted elsewhere. Regional radar suggests scattered showers persist
in the trade wind flow across the eastern Caribbean.
For the forecast, little change in the pattern through tonight.
Winds and seas diminish Thu through Sat as the high pressure
weakens, although strong winds will persist off Colombia through
Sat night.
The easterly Caribbean winds are back, firmly in control of the whole area. The high level cloud is now only over north Mexico. There are cloud patches in the Caribbean winds, which could cause a little rain occasionally.
Looks like today will be a typical Caribbean weather day, Sun, Cloud and a small chance of the odd rain shower.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 22°C 71°F Yesterday 24°C 75°F Yesterday Rain 17.6 mm ( 0.7")
Present Condition: Clearing. Relatively moist northeasterly airflow continues to dominate our weather. *Operators of small crafts are advised that a small warning remains in effect for rough seas.*
24hr Forecast: Sunny skies today with with a few cloudy spells. Shower activity will be generally isolated today. Tonight skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, a few showers will develop mainly along central and southern coastal areas.
Outlook: Thursday afternoon thru to Friday afternoon, is for partly cloudy skies wth only isolated showers.
