Hey, I've been following the message board for about a week now and the tips have been great. My boyfriend and I are leaving for AC on Wednesday and staying at the Seven Seas for a week. What are some of the must-do spots in town? We are planning on taking the overnight dive trip to Blue Hole and definitely a day trip to the ruins. Mainly I just wanted to hear your suggestions for restaurants and dive outfitters, and anything about our hotel. Also, has anyone encountered safety issues? I hear Belize City isn't a place to be wandering aroung, but what about AC? I'd appreciate any comments...thanks!

very safe. don't be stupid, tho. you will be talked to & probably offered pot. just say no thanks & smile. that is as bad as it gets.

we liked mickey's place for breakfast (air conditioned!), el patio for dinner. elvi's is not fancy but very nice.

catch catagory 7 (a band) if you can, they rock.

make sure you leave plenty of time for sitting around staring at the ocean.

Make sure you eat at Papis, right around the corner from the hotel, excellent. I was a solo traveler and felt very safe. Like Jane said only a few offers, no thanks and smile.

I agree with Jane and Jackie - we felt very safe. Just use common sense (as you would anywhere).

I also agree with Jackie about Papi's. Although soup isn't something that a lot of people think of eating in hot weather, Papi's chicken lime soup is a definite DON'T MISS!

We like breakfast at Estelles, lunch at Micky's on Wed. (Burrito special) Papi's for dinner for sure! The street vendors by the park are great. Capricorn and Victoria House for a really special dinner.

As for dive operators, we like Barefoot Water Sports. Great boats, staff, and they do an overnite Blue Hole trip. Have fun and Dive Safe!

You really cannot go wrong with the restaurants on AC, some are just a little pricier than others. But you absolutely cannot miss Estel's by the Sea for breakfast! Nothing like starting off a day with a great breakfast and your toes in the sand! If you love Mexican cuisine, definitely check out Caliente. Awesome food, atmosphere and margaritas! Lastly, Jambel Jerk Pit is great if you can take the heat (try to get a seat on the roof).

Have a great trip!

jkgus,

Barefoot Watersports is great! They have a great staff who happen to be very nice people. Adolpho and Carlos are the greatest divemasters and you can't go wrong! The rest of the staff is exceptional. Have a great trip.
