During a media mixer this weekend, Prime Minister John Briceo, Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler and C.E.O. Nicole Usher-Solano, as well as senior staff from the Belize Tourism Board were all in attendance. But visibly absent were Marketing Director Misty Michael and Tourism Director Karen Bevans. As the new leadership embarks on its strategy to return the industry to a sense of normalcy, News Five asked if Bevans is still actively involved in the process.
Evan Tillett, Chairman, B.T.B.
"We're focused on the digital side of the marketing right now and we think that that would help us to reach where we need to get to in order to get heads in beds."
"Is her absence from here a reflection of what is happening at the B.T.B.? Is she a part of the strategy?"
"She is still gainfully employed at the Board."
"Yeah, but is she involved in the decision making?"
"She is still gainfully employed at the Board and she comes to work every single day."
As previously reported, a five-year contract, totalling one point two million dollars, was signed between the previous U.D.P. administration and the Tourism Director Karen Bevans back in April of 2019.
