Governor General Sir Colville Young has been Belize's Governor General and Head of State since 1993. But his long and outstanding tenure may soon be coming to an end. Tonight, there are credible reports that the Prime Minister is asking the 88-year-old is to step down.

Tonight, we can confirm that his family has agreed along with his Doctor that it is time for the senior statesman to retire. His son Ambassador-designate Lyn Young told us as much and added, quote, "We have been planning for this eventuality for over a year." End quote.
