Community testing decreases

According to official information, the four cases of COVID-19 in San Pedro Town are isolated to a small group of visitors (tourists) who remain in quarantine. These patients are in stable health and have not developed severe symptoms. They all reportedly tested positive at a private lab and it is assumed that it happened prior to their departure from San Pedro.

Community-wide the medical team at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II is reporting that the number of persons visiting the Mar de Tumbo Flu clinic for testing has decreased. They have noticed less interest from islanders in getting tested, which is concerning since the virus is still out there. Anyone suspecting flu symptoms is asked to report to the clinic and get swabbed to assure there is no community spread. The appeal is made particularly to tour guides, who work with people daily. The Mar de Tumbo flu clinic is open Monday to Friday 8AM to 4PM. For emergencies call 672-0911.
