The Caribbean Sea
Satellite imagery shows increased cloudiness across most of the
Caribbean. A surface trough is analyzed along 10N between Lake
Maracaibo in northern Venezuela and Costa Rica. Scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms are occurring along this boundary. Mid
and upper level cloudiness associated with this convection covers
a large portion of the region. Scatterometer data this morning
shows moderate to fresh easterly winds in the central Caribbean
between 70W and 75W, and moderate to fresh E to SE winds in the
Gulf of Honduras, as well as through the Windward Passage. Seas
are 3 to 5 ft across the entire basin.
Weak high pressure centered east of the Bahamas near 26N72W will
gradually shift eastward through Mon. Fresh SE winds are expected
across the NW Caribbean this weekend. Fresh E winds and building
seas are expected across the central Caribbean this weekend.
Little significant change is expected elsewhere through Tue.
The high-level winds are very complex, moving in 3 different directions in our area, but presently thin over Belize, leaving the Caribbean slow wind from the east, causing cloudy areas and hazy sun in other areas, but no rain.
Looks as if today will be rather similar to yesterday, cloudy, but a fair bit of sunshine and probably no rain.
Temperatures in Belmopan : ( Coast usually cooler, hills even cooler ) Last Night 24°C 75°F 31°C 88°F Yesterday Rain 0 mm ( 0")
Present Condition: Mostly clear skies. Clear in San Pedro. A moderate southeasterly airflow is expected over the weekend that will lead to hot and dry conditions over the area.
24hr Forecast: Sunny skies during the daytime and clear to partly cloudy skies tonight. Showers, if any, will be isolated along with the chance of an isolated thunderstorm developing inland this afternoon.
Outlook: Hot and dry conditions will prevail on Saturday afternoon through to midday on Sunday.
