A man was rushed to the Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II on Monday, April 12th, with apparent gunshot injuries. The unidentified patient was stabilized and airlifted to the mainland for further medical care. Police are investigating and were observed at the polyclinic until the patient was airlifted off the island. An official report from the police department is yet to be released. According to unofficial information, the victim was allegedly shot over the weekend north of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye.

Police are reportedly in the area probing into the incident. While the investigation continues, remote areas of northern Ambergris Caye are known for violent events in the past. These incidents are attributed to what is known as ‘wet drops’, or packages of drugs washing ashore. People identified combing the northern beaches in search of these packages of drugs are known as ‘Playaderos’ or beachcombers. It can be dangerous to come across these people who can be armed. Fishermen and residents are cautioned when in these remote areas of the island.

Man Shot In San Pedro Waited Days Before Going to Hospital

It touched down just after 12:00 a.m. a B.E.R.T Air Ambulance that brought 42 year old Matthew Moses, a shooting victim from San Pedro, into the City for much-needed emergency treatment at the K.H.M.H.
Reports are that Moses was shot on the island, but didn't immediately go for emergency services for personal reasons.

By the time the cops found him this morning, his condition was serious. And just before 1 p.m., he was finally checked into the national referral hospital by O.C. commanding San Pedro Chris Noble who had been his police escort on the Air Ambulance that just may have saved his life.

Moses remains under police guard. His family is yet to get an update on his condition. We'll keep following this story.

Islander Matthew Moses stable after stabbed and shot in northern Ambergris Caye

The shooting victim airlifted to Belize City yesterday is identified as fisherman 42-year-old Matthew Jonathan Moses of DFC area, San Pedro Town. Details of the incident, provided by police, indicate that on Friday, April 9th, at around 4AM, Moses was sleeping in a hammock at Rocky Point in northern Ambergris Caye. He was with two other male persons when he heard them talking. Moses said he was getting out of the hammock when one of the persons fired several shots towards him. He was hit and fell out of the hammock, the other then person proceeded to stab him. Afterward, the two persons left, and he escaped from the area, wounded.

Other reports say Moses hide in the bushes and then made his way towards the beach where he was found. He was reportedly shot five times, once through the chest. As police continue to investigate, he remains under police custody.

Matthew Moses Was Left For Dead At Rocky Point; Police Saved Him

Last night we told you about shooting victim 42-year-old Matthew Jonathan Moses - who was brought in form San Pedro and rushed to the KHMH.

Tonight more is known about the extraordinary attack that ended with him bring rushed to the hospital isn a critical state.

Police say he was shot and stabbed near Rocky Pointe, San Pedro on Friday. It happened at 4:00 a.m. whilst Moses was sleeping in a hammock. That's when he was targeted by two Belize City men known to him only as "gunman" and "psycho".

He'd allegedly picked them up on Wednesday, April 7th when they arrived on the island and had driven them up to Rocky Pointe where the three seemed to have been camping out. We should note that this is a well known area to cut for wet drops from Drug Cartels. It's also been a murder scene more than once. And it almost became one again on Friday morning. Moses said the main fired several shots at him, and shoot him 5 times, including once through the chest, causing him to fall out of the hammock, that's when the other man stabbed him.

He only survived by playing dead and waiting until his assailants had left the area. He remained in hiding all weekend barely managing to survive the gunshots and stab wounds. He wasn't found until Monday when at around 9:00 a.m. a search party accompanied by police found him in a critical state.

Moses was brought to the city by air ambulance yesterday and taken for treatment to the K.H.M.H where he remains in a stable condition and under police guard.
