Matthew Moses Was Left For Dead At Rocky Point; Police Saved Him
Last night we told you about shooting victim 42-year-old Matthew Jonathan Moses - who was brought in form San Pedro and rushed to the KHMH.
Tonight more is known about the extraordinary attack that ended with him bring rushed to the hospital isn a critical state.
Police say he was shot and stabbed near Rocky Pointe, San Pedro on Friday. It happened at 4:00 a.m. whilst Moses was sleeping in a hammock. That's when he was targeted by two Belize City men known to him only as "gunman" and "psycho".
He'd allegedly picked them up on Wednesday, April 7th when they arrived on the island and had driven them up to Rocky Pointe where the three seemed to have been camping out. We should note that this is a well known area to cut for wet drops from Drug Cartels. It's also been a murder scene more than once. And it almost became one again on Friday morning. Moses said the main fired several shots at him, and shoot him 5 times, including once through the chest, causing him to fall out of the hammock, that's when the other man stabbed him.
He only survived by playing dead and waiting until his assailants had left the area. He remained in hiding all weekend barely managing to survive the gunshots and stab wounds. He wasn't found until Monday when at around 9:00 a.m. a search party accompanied by police found him in a critical state.
Moses was brought to the city by air ambulance yesterday and taken for treatment to the K.H.M.H where he remains in a stable condition and under police guard.
